oops! sorry! wrong number!

I woke this morning to my phone ringing.  When I answered it, a friendly voice on the other end said;

Voice: Good morning!  How are you today?

Me: (smiling) I'm well!  Hope you are!

Voice: Is Eric there? 

Me: I'm sorry, you must have the wrong number.

Voice: (flustered) Oh, I'm so sorry!  Pardon me.

Me: (still smiling) No problem at all!  It's always nice to hear a friendly voice!

Voice: (laughed)  Thanks!  Have a great day!

Me: You too!

We hung up and about an hour later, my phone rings again.  I recognize the number on my caller ID as the same number.  I answer and he laughs when he heard my voice. 

Voice: (laughing) I'm sorry ma'am, but I keep dialing your number!

Me: (laughing with him).  Quite alright.  It's always nice to get two friendly calls in the morning.  Now my day has started with laughter.  Thank you!

Voice: So has mine!  Thank you!

It's easy to get irritated sometimes with wrong numbers, especially if they repeat the call.  But I like to have fun with wrong numbers!  Today, I felt in a good mood and wanted to relay that.  I hope the caller has a smile on his face for the rest of the day b/c the shared chuckles put a smile on my face this morning!

There is actually someone in the area with the same name as mine, which is rare because outside of my family, only about 5 people in the state have the same last name as mine. I get phone calls occasionally for this guy, but it throws me off because they have the right name! The worst was the guy who called to get the insurance information after the other me hit his wife's car. It took me a while to figure that one out!

Our number is very close to the local hospitals number so we get a lot of calls. We just give them the phone number and go on about our merry way. I have received phone calls especially from older folks and end up having a conversation. My favorite story though is when my 17 year old was about 8 or 9, he would try to call his little girlfriend and he would call an older lady in the area and they would just talk. She just thought he was the sweetest little boy. They finally got to meet each other one day. I've also been known to get into long conversations with people calling my cell phone with the wrong number because the number belonged to a marine in Jacksonville at one time.

A few years ago, I got a call at about 12:30 am. It was a very irate woman looking for her husband. When I told her she had the wrong number, she got really pizzed off. She called back again and again until I finally called Bellsouth and reported her number since I had caller ID. Then I had her blocked, but I still had her number. A few nights later - early morning hours, payback time!

I received a wrong umber call last week at 1:30 AM. I politely advised the obviously intoxicated caller that he had the wrong number and hung up. Had just gotten back to sleep when the phone rang again - same inebriated caller who was again advise that he had called the wrong number again and to please check the number before he dialed. Had just gotten back to sleep when the darn phone rang again. Same drunk azzhole this time I yelled at him and told him that if he called again I was going to report him to the SO for harrassment. Guess it worked that time

This is a LOT better than the one I get every so often. Around 9 am, I'll answer the phone to hear an elderly lady practically yell what sounds like "Lois?" I say, "you have the wrong number", and the phone is slammed down in my ear.

I'm going to snap eventually, and yell something that makes granny want to check to see what Lois' number really is!

It always cracks me up when a guy will call a wrong number and then say "well how are you doing" in a ricko suave voice, lol. As if!

my wrong numbers usually occur VERY late at night on my cell phone-I'm not always too nice if I answer. But then, I don't feel your phone should ring after midnight unless it's an emergency

i had some teenagers call my number, and i told them they had the wrong number, and do you know i had to threaten them with harrassment charges because they were mad they had the wrong number and began texting me and were being so ugly!!!! i couldnt believe the behavior of those kids....i finally changed my number. they thought it was funny and i had doctors calling me saying i paged them, etc.....just pure foolish! i trade "wrong number" calls with you, LOL send the nice ones my way hahaha

I received a call a week ago around 5:30am. I answered quickly because my Dad had some bad health times about a year ago. When I answered I realized the caller dialed our number by mistake. Once he apologized, I said np...a wrong number at this hour is a good thing and laughed. Made my day after being jarred awake by the phone.
