I remember some time ago a jet landing in the ocean just offshore somewhere and they weren't as lucky as this group of passengers were. This pilot made one heck of a good landing...likely saving many lives.
If I had of been on that plane, I would have likely had my fishing gear heading out on a fishing trip. That being the case you would have seen a fishing pole sticking up off that wing and a little guy holding on to it! I know I know...not the place to be joking....but at least this had a happy ending...

Too bad none of the victims of 9/11 were rewarded with their lives. Was it because they weren't strong enough, or not sufficiently well prepared?

Exactly.
And that - and that alone - is why those 155 people are alive today.

And I belive He guided the pilot to do the right thing.
God tests us, and allows us to learn how little control we have over our lives. He rewards those who are strong and who prepare. The pilot knew his responsibility as a pilot and showed stewardship of his responsibilites.

Don't worry. The evil one will be out in 3 days.

no more ridiculous than to give him credit for saving them when all credit was due to the pilot.
as I said before, the pilot didn't give up the controls in favor of prayer. He kept his cool and used his reason to bring that plane in safely.
if you think that god had a part in bringing that plane in safely then you have to acknowledge that the almighty must have had a hand in crippling the plane in the first place.

Why did your God send the birds into the engine in the first place? Just to leave 150 passengers terrified out of their wits, so he could bring the plane in for a gentle river landing and then come out looking like a hero in the eyes of weak-minded religious zealots?
Luckily for the people on that plane, their pilot didn't rely on the mercy of some invisible sky-god to bring the plane in. No, he relied on logic, rational thought and skill to glide the airbus into the river. He could have buried his face in his hands and started praying to the invisible sky-god to bring the plane in, but no. He rejected superstition, embraced KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and RATIONAL THOUGHT and brought that baby in for a smooth landing.
Your "God" tried to kill those passengers. He was beat out by a smart human. Thank you, and you alone, Capt Sullenberger

BRAVO to the Pilot!!!
I believe you are referring to a flight that had left JFK Airport on route to Paris. I remember this flight very well because my children's Pediatrician's Mom was on that flight to go visit her Grandchildren. They first thought the plane was shot down...it hit the water so hard that the plane just went into pieces...all you saw was fire on the water, pieces of seats, luggage, etc.

The one that didn't end so well was about 11 yrs ago I think in the Indian Ocean. Those folks weren't so lucky. 'Sully' should TEACH pilots after seeing what he is able to do!
