your predictions for 2009

Happy New Year GOLO!
With 2009 right around the corner, let's make some predictions that we can come back and revisit this time next year next.
You pick the topic. The economy, politics, crime, education, a lottery win, GOLO...anything you wish. So go for it.
I will post the predictions one year from today so we can see how many came true.
I predict that we will have 20,000 GOLO profiles and SueDonym will still be the top GOLO poster of all time! I also predict that three major newspapers will close up shop and become online only.

But the end of 2009, those three countries will be completely fed up with muslum violence and start campaigns to drive them out of their respective countries and into Pakastan, Afghanistan, and Iran. The Russian army will take a hit because so many of their current members are muslum, but increased patriotism by Slavic CIS nationals will allow for rapid reorganization.
By the end of the year, Russia will dramatically increase oil production further collapsing the price of crude. That will result in a fracturing of OPEC particularly in light of the fact that China will make a private deal with the Saudis to provide the bulk of their crude. I see OPEC dissolving by the end of 2010 in a major war, with Iraq and Egypt gaining the most from it.

In the meantime, I see the US, Canada, and Mexico further strengthening their ties with Mexico finally acceding to suggestions that English be firmly established as a secondary language that all their citizens will learn. We will pretty much stay out of politics in the Middle East, having withdrawn from Iraq and shutting down our bases in Saudi Arabia, though we will retain our influence in Turkey as they become full members of NATO.
The Western confederation will then concentrate on developing South America, finally shutting down Chavez and the idiot puppets he holds the strings to.

And all that will set itself up for a major was sometime in the next three years or so between China and the Saudies when the Saudies reneg on agreements with them. That will allow Russia to meddle in places where they should not be and I see some serious war breaking out between China, Saudia Arabia, and the Russian proxies.

I think the weather is going to continue in its path of extremes as global warming gets no better (lets face it the oil companies and government do everything in their power to prevent environment friendly transportation from emerging...)
A little closer to home, I predict a happier year for many people as they realize that they can make it through really tough times and be okay.

The Chinese will attempt to further their intention to poison the United States by increasing levels of exports to the US that contain potentially hazardous and/or nuclear contaminated food. Including meats and other items that are imported via large retail outlets.
In an effort to fix their economy, the Soviet Union will become the largest Oil producer, exporting exclusively to the United States. Saudi's wells begin to run dry.
The economy will turn around at the end of the year but after several companies go bankrupt. The auction industry is extremely busy this year as most of your not broke eBay consigners put the stuff online.

2. Western North Carolina's drought continues throughout all of next year.
3. WRAL will offer Angela a new's reporter position.
4.Iran will test Obama's military thinking.
5. Israel will see an increase of attacks from Jordan and Hamas, and may go to full-scale war.
6. Great troubles will brew in the Middle East this year. This time by Iran, causing another major hike in gas prices.
7. At least two major hurricanes will hit the US. One of those will hit Wilmington in the first week of September and may include the Triangle in it's path.
8. Snow on February 21st in the Triangle, up to six inches.
9. A similar 9/11 will occur somewhere in the world, possibily in the USA, around August.

War begins in Israel involving Palistine, Iran, Syria, and with the help of Russia. USA will be asked to make a stand by its long time friend and will turn them down. Obama will refuse to assist Israel with military support and Israel will defend itself,as a last resort, with its nuke arsenal.

Benefits such as health care will still be benefits, and not rights. Entitlements such as Medicare and Medicaid, Welfare and Social Security will see severe cuts, endangering if the programs stay around much longer. And those who believe that anything that is a privilege will be shunned when gay marriages start failing, and the two who are getting a divorce start screaming that it is not fair that they have to sell and give their now most hated wife/husband 50% of all that they posess.
They have already started screaming the F word in states that have these marriages that it is not fair that they have to give up 50% of their possessions because of the failure.
I think anything gay, anything Politically Correct, and one way tolerance will be squashed in 2009.
