Annual Holiday Pajama Party
The Ackland Art Museum at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill presents its Holiday Pajama Party for children and families. It will feature readings from classic Golden Books and stories from around the world told by acclaimed storyteller Faye Stanley. Milk and cookies will be available. Admission is free, and children are encouraged to wear their pajamas.

Deer spotting hike on American Tobacco Trail
Visit the American Tobacco Trail and marvel at the area's wonderful deer population. Meet in the New Hill parking lot to look for deer tracks, deer rubbings and deer scat, which could lead to sightings. For information, call 387-2117.

Audubon Society Winter Bird Count
Join Naturalist John Connors of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences and members of the Wake Audubon Society for the 108th Annual Audubon Society Winter Bird Count at Yates Mill County Park. Many reoccurring and some rare winter migrants have been counted during this event. Come prepared for winter weather, including proper footgear. Binoculars and field guides are also helpful. Pre-registration is not required; call the park office at 856-6675 to find out where to meet.

The Dead Sea Scrolls:
- are the most important manuscript discovery of the 20th century
- were discovered in caves in the Judean desert in the late 1940s
- include manuscripts of the Hebrew bible (Christian old testament) dating more than 2000 years old
- are the oldest biblical manuscripts in existence anywhere in the world
The Museum exhibit:
- now features six new scroll fragments, including part of Genesis (creation of man) and Exodus (let my people go)
- includes more than 100 artifacts from Qumran, the ancient settlement most closely linked with the scrolls
- is a rare opportunity to experience first hand the riches of biblical study and archaeology of the holy land
- is a chance to see life reconstructed, as it was in the first century

Having grown up in that area, that's a nice tour
(also, the showing of the outdoor drama First For Freedom about how NC came to sign the Declaration of Independence is a great drama. My high school history teacher, Maxville Williams, wrote that and directed it for a number of years. He doesn't direct it anymore but it's a great drama)
