Published Dec. 2, 2008I'm watching a show on the history channel about the KKK. It's fascinating. While we all know how racist a group it is, I'm amazed at how large a group it was and how involved in politics. The power they had in both church and state is unbelievable. Scary. What do you think?

Let's also play the 'Irish Need Not Apply' and 'Trail of Tears' and 'Final Solution' cards while we're at it? I'm afraid every group has had hardships placed on them. When Italians first came to America, they were mistreated worse than the Mexicans. Catholics and Mormons get busted in the chops when they run for public office. I don't understand how any preference based on past hardships is ever condoned. If a group is whining about what happened in the past, maybe that group should get over themselves and see that there is a world of hurt out there right in their own back yard. In the meantime, no you may not have an opportunity handed to you over a more qualified person. Life is not always fair. Move on.
