lasik eye surgery

I'm thinking of getting lasik eye surgery.  Does anyone have suggestions of where to go? I have BCBS insurance and there is a ton of options for doctors. I'm hoping to find a interest free deal.

blink often

How bad is your vision? What does your current opthamologist say about it? Mine told me I was NOT a candidate for it because of my astigmatism and my age (40's) because now is the time when your eyes start doing that weird farsightedness stuff. I have friends and my mom in law that had it done and they love it!

why are you getting it done?

I had mine done at LasikPlus. They were great! It's been 4 years and no problems.

If you have medical flex benefits at work put aside enough for next year to pay for the surgery. The money is taken out pre-tax and you can pay it at once - no interest worries - even if you haven't contributed enough as of the date to cover it.

Dr. White, ECU School of Medicine, Greenville, NC

He will not lie to you - he very reputabutable. forget his phone number. Went to him for over 20 years. :)

I had it done about 8 years ago and I LOVE it! I went through TLC which was over across from Rex. They are the folks that did Tiger Woods surgery. They are the only place I found that has a lifetime guarantee. If, as you age, your eyes get worse again, they will fix it for free. So far, so good. I am still 20/20. And now they have the bladeless surgery which is even better. Go talk to them and go to one of their sessions-you can watch a surgery as it happens and ask questions. They are awesome. :-)

kitkat, how bad was your vision to begin with?

Gandalf -

I want to have lasik b/c I am a very active young (30 in January) person. I am constantly having issues with dirt and sand getting into my eyes and under my contacts when playing softball and vball. I also enjoy water sports and they are nearly impossible with contacts.

I am currently paying close to $300/year for contact lenses. I figure lasik will save me money in the long run.

Then you may want to look at what they have to say on the lasik site: http://www.fda. gov/cdrh/lasik/
