five-figure bonuses

I saw this story on msnbc about a family owned company that gave five-figure bonuses to their employee's as a way to say "thank you" for all their years of service. I just thought it was nice to see employer's treating their employee's fair when it comes to bonuses. So how many are getting bonuses this year? No one is getting a bonus this year where I work, however Administration will get their usual 20-30K dollar bonuses.

A few weeks under 5 years of service for me, so no bonus. I might get a pen if I'm lucky.

I get a 5-figure bonus, too.

Of course, there is a decimal point involved ....

After years of working hard just to get by and starting to really make money in the seventies Piedmont Airline gave all the employees a new crisp $100 bill the company even paid the taxes. I guess management got more, but for all of us lower on the food chain it was unexpected and such a suprise it made us feel like it was a million. While Mr. Tom Davis was President and CEO the whole airline was like a big family and he never accepted a huge salary and benefit package.

This year, our bonus is down, but I am thankful for whatever we happen to get.

ah -- i can answer the one for the mail carriers. we are allowed to receive gifts BUT any gift should not be valued at more than $20. We get no bonus , even thru - from what i've always heard - the postmasters get a year-end bonsus . so , any gift from the customers is always appreciated that we've done a good job thru the year. hope that helps :>

I thought mail carriers were federal employees and as such were not allowed to accept gifts. Federal employees have a bonus program based on their performance.

We didn't get much of a bonus this year. Our bonuses are based on profitability, and that was down, so the bonuses were too.

Don't worry, when Obama raises taxes on small businesses, you'll never have to worry about these people getting bonuses ever again.

I work for a major ($2B a year) corporation that uses a scale for bonuses. Last year was by far the biggest profit the conmpany has seen but an accounting mistake took away most of our bonus. This year we'll max out but sales are down. I get the same now as I did whn we were a $400M a year company. My pay isn't that great but the bonus is real nice. I usually get $8,000 but after taxes it comes to about $4,300, they take almost half. I'm sure next year they'll take much more...ugh

Last year hubby got a cheap digital watch.

When I did have newspaper delivery, I never got a paper...so...
