I would like to get up on my soapbox. Please let me vent.
I live behind Tower Shopping Center. Not that that matters, but just to give you an idea where I live. Technically, I livei n the county, but the "city limits" sign, is literally 3 blocks up the road. Here is where I want to fuss.
We have neighbors who burn leaves and wood. One, specifically, burns wood probably 3x a week or more! He lives directly beside the house, behind me. The smoke is horrible. It's worse than horrible. We keep our windows shut and the smoke is so bad, it actually permeates the house. Add to that, another neighbor who burns leaves, on a regular basis and neither one of these neighbors (to my knowledge), puts their stupid smoke stack completely out at night; meaning, it smolders, ALL NIGHT LONG. I'm well aware that it's legal to burn leaves and wood (although I wish it WASN'T) and I guarantee if you lived here, you'd feel the same way. But, just because something is "legal" doesn't make it right. One of the neighbors who burns wood, actually wears a face mask! Hmmmmmmmmm. Wonder why!!!?? Oh wait, I know: SMOKE! I took pictures of him in his yard and the smoke. I had too. The smoke was blinding and that day, I was pissed! With good reason!
Here is my question: Once a year our neighborhood puts out their "newsletter" and neighborhood directly and asks for a few bucks for "the neighborhood," which I'm glad to give. My question is: I would love to ask the person in charge of getting this stuff out, if they could please put a short note in there, asking neighbors who burn, to make sure their smoke is completely out and doesn't smoulder at night. I would even tell the lady to use my name, Beth Wilson. (I don't care).
What do you think? Should I ask her (I don't know her), to put a note in with the stuff, about this continuous (and trust me, it is), burning?
Thank you! Right now, I can smell smoke and it's very strong. I don't have a problem with burning on occasion, but I sware, and this is NO exaggeration, these neighbors burn SEVERAL times a week, they really do. I think it's very rude & inconsiderate............

I don't know the neighbors who burn, personally. I just wonder if it has dawned on them how their burning so much, affects their SURRONDING neighbors! My husband said that they probably wouldn't care and are ___________. I told him that I didn't think so. I think everybody is considerate and would never intentioanlly do something they know is harmful or irritating to others - and our houses ARE close together, in this neighborhood. I'm beginning to think, my husband may have a point: Some people just don't care. :-(

LuckyLucas, Yes. I can remport them, even if what they are doing is 100% legal. HOWEVER, I'm fairly sure nothing would be done, excpet maybe them being talked too. I'd only do that for a last resort. I DO have breathing problems. Not asthma, but shortness of breath. :-(
