Val and I got there at 6:30 and there was a line of about 100 people. So we just sat in the car for about 20 minutes until the line was gone. We walked in, waited about 10 minutes in our alphabetical line (while two of the other three were completely empty the whole time) and got out five minutes later. When we left, pretty much no one else was coming in.

I suspect that once the initial morning surge is over, the polls will be relatively slow all day long. There will be another surge at 5 or so, but so many people voted early that it really will be a slow day. And any specific polling place that IS backing up I would suggest is being run by idiots.

And I did do one thing that was a real hoot. I started walking to the place where the poll hoverers were located. As I passed the sign delineating the edge of legal campaigning, I asked them if they wanted to talk to me. As soon as they started talking, I jumped back to the other side.

Wanna talk to me?

Can't talk to me.

Wanna talk to me?

Can't talk to me.

Did that about five times. I think the candidate pimps were getting nervous.

Dh and I got into line at 6:05 this morning.Yes I did say line!We were #11 and #12 in our precient.Lines were getting thick when we left.

My husband and I voted two Saturdays ago at Lake Lynn. It was very busy and crowded but no lines. I love the "I voted" seals they gave us. I saved it for today and will wear it proudly! It is a great day to be an american no matter who wins. Just remember that! And lets all support the winner even if it is NOT who you voted for. You nor I can't spend the next 4 or 8 yrs. being irritable over it. That's not good for our health!

Voted this morning in northwest Harnett county. I got there right at 6:30 and the line was already out the door, through the parking lot, and out to the street, even with a rollercoaster-like guided line inside the building. Good to see so many people out in the rain getting out the vote!

My home of record is still in Virginia, so I voted absentee.

i arrived this morning in hopes of beating the crowd...That was a joke. I had to wait in a long line and thought to myself, i sure am goig to be late for work, until they called last names A-L....i thought..wow im moving on up...and did. Upon arrival to the check in the lady asked for ID and i GLADY produced it for her. I then voted and made my way to work. If the lines this moring are any indication of voter turn out..we will not the final results for a couple of days it seems. I am just glad they asked for ID.

I intended to vote at 6:30 this morning; arriving at the polling place at about 6:15. I was suprised, and excited to see so many young people standing in line well before the sunrise and in the rain to cast their vote! What an exciting day for America this is going to be!

I arrived this morning at the polls to see a nice sized crowd of voters. However, to my dismay the electorial official was somewhat rude. My problem was that the ballot taker was jammed so they were putting all the voted ballots into a box and intended to scan the ballots once the jam was fixed. I did not like the idea of just leaving my ballot in the hands of someone else. So I elected to wait around until the jam was finished. Once the official de-jammed the device she noticed that several ballots were jammed and was not sure if they were counted or not. This again was very disturbing to me and several other voters. She said that she was not sure if they were counted or not since the individual ballots were not numbered. So she rescanned them, made herself a note and left it at that. One voter in particular questioned her method and pretty much said what everyone in line was thinking. What in the world! I was very uneasy when I casted my vote be careful at the polls people

I got to polling site at 6:10 in Wilson and expected huge turn out. My husband and I took our 8 year old daughter is was just as excited about helping us cast our vote(s) as we were. She couldn't wait to get to school and show everyone that she voted today. Lines were some what long, but again it was expected. Only took about 20 minutes to vote after poll opened. It was nice to see soooooo many people voting. I think it was biggest turn out I've ever seen. It was also nice to see people not upset or ill about wait or lines.... even after we were told that they were (3) people short for working the polling site.

They keep the paper ballots, Tootie, and the machines keep a running count of how many ballots they have processed. If the numbers don't add up / equal one another, they have to get to the bottom of why before they can certify the results.

Took us less then 30 minutes from front door, to Stem Fire House, and back home.

We left our home at 9:00 and we were back home by 9:20. Fast and easy for us.

I arrived at Cary precinct 04-14 around 7:40am, armed with an iPod & a 500-page book. There was one person in line ahead of me. Truth be told, my ten-minute wait in line at Caribou Coffee for my post-voting mocha was five times longer than my wait at the precinct!

I voted this morning at Glen Eden Pilot Park (approx. 9:30a) and experienced no wait. I feel confident in the volunteers at that location and felt that the experience was very orderly and professional.

I got to the polls at 8:30 and went right in. No line at all! My kids did Kids Voting when I was done. Stopped by Starbucks in Glenwood South to get my free cup, and there wasn't a line there, either!

the line at my precinct this morning around 9:00 was TRIPLE what it normally is - there were 2 people in line in front of me!

I arrived at Wakefield Middle this morning around 6:15 and was home around 6:55. They moved the line along pretty fast and I think the early voting helped.

Voting this morning at Youngsville Baptist Church was a breeze. Got there at 6:15am, and was out by 6:45. My daughters' first time voting today as well. Never voted that early before, but plan to again in the future. Voting staff were friendly, helpful, and organized !

At 6:30 this morning in the Cedar Creek township (Fayetteville) there was already a line to vote. The line moved fairly easy, but there was limited places to sit or stand to vote. Not enough space for the amount of people that were there. The people working the polls were pleasant as always. Worst part is I had many voters parked in my yard instead of the building they were to vote at. I've had this problem before and the Board of Elections tell me there is nothing they can do about it except for me to put up a barrier or chain. It would be OK if the some of the people had more respect and did not throw political fliers down in my yard, or ride all over the grass.

The machine at Cedar Creek (in Fayetteville)went down just after 6:30am. We had to put our votes in the "emergency slot" of the machine for them to scan when it was fixed. Not sure I liked that or not, but did it anyway.

Voted at about 10:45 in NE Wayne County. No wait. In and out. Very nice. Even had the chance to help one lady (who asked for my help) by explaining how straight party/individual selection of candidates was done on the ballot sheets. She was very thankful to have it explained and it made me feel good to have helped her out and ensure her vote counted.

My husband and I took the kids Saturday to vote in Fuquay. We waited a good 45 minutes to an hour, but it was of course worth the wait.

I voted this morning in Cary. At 8:30, I was fourth in line. They had set up tables in addition to the booths, for people who didn't mind not being secretive about who they were voting for. I was about the 350th voter at that site. The workers said that the line had been longer earlier, but it had been a steady pace ever since. I figure average time between arrival and leaving was running around 15 minutes.

Don't let the predictions of long lines discourage you, folks! Get out and vote!

And thanks to all of you who braved the long lines to vote early: because you voted early, less people will be discouraged by long lines today.

My wife, daughter and I voted at 10:15 am today on Alston in Durham - no problems, no lines, took less than 10 minutes to get in and out. Very helpful precinct workers, especially in explaining the "party ticket" and that you had to vote for President/VP separately as well as the non-partisan offices and the 1% food tax even if you voted a straight party ticket. That was helpful and should result in better voting for everyone. Great experience. A little wet, rainy and cool, but overall a great time!

my brother and I are roommates so we rode together. I live in a small town and they only had 8 booths. he of course had to go ahead of me so he got the last one, so i had to wait a few minutes. I was there only about 15 mins. When I had left I realized I had managed to put my jacket on inside out. lol

When I went to vote, I was greeted by a volunteer who offered me a "sample ballot" with all of Democratic candidates highlighted. I am a Democrat, but this just ticked me off. I politely informed the volunteer that I had already researched my choices. I guess I was ticked off because it made the party look bad.
