the father who went an extra mile

Published Oct. 15, 2008

This is a story of selflessness and determination. More than anything, it’s a story of fatherly love.

One day, a son asked his father to take part in a marathon with him. The son had severe disabilities, but held on tight to his dream. The father, despite having a heart condition, decided to grant his son’s wish and they participated together in several marathons.

One day, the son asked his father if they could join the Iron Man. For those who don’t know, the Iron Man is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile marathon along the coast of the Big Island.

Father and son went on to complete the race together.  The video is extremely touching.

True love can enable us to surpass the toughest of obstacles, and will give us the strength to rise above our self-imposed limitations.

All that’s needed is a little bit of courage, a good dose of faith and the firm belief that we can do it.

Have a wonderful day, everybody. May we all find the courage to rise above our preconceived ideas, and know that through love we can change our world and others'.

jbync1, it makes it fast to post the blog. It's either that or no pic at all, as I don't have the time to search for avatars. If the pic offends you, or bothers you in any way, you can paintbrush over it or stay out of my blogs altogether. Have a lovely day.

GREAT POSTS ... BUT DO WE NEED TO SEE YOUR MUG SHUT ON EVERY POST???

THE MILK IS GOING BAD!!!

That's a great story!

BTW Sandra, I think that you have brought a breath of fresh air to Golo, I always enjoy reading your blogs!!!

Thank You!!!! {{{HUGS}}}

They really are, Snow! A friend sent this to me and made me realize how much can be done if we can just detach from the pity puddle we automatically roll in when something is wrong with us. I find that so inspiring!

this always makes me cry, we first saw it at church and i watch it so often to remind that GOD is awesome and so is tihs father and son

Thank you for the homepage address!

Thank you,very touching.
