As Allegations Against ACORN Mount, So Does Pressure to Investigate, Cut-Off Public Funds to Corrupt Organization
James Terry testified at a joint House Administration and House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing on "Federal, State and Local Efforts to Prepare for the General 2008 Election," where he highlighted "corruption at every level of ACORN including embezzlement, cover-ups, misuse of taxpayer funds and voter fraud. ACORN is a non-profit, non-partisan social justice organization with national headquarters in New York, New Orleans and Washington, D.C. To maintain independence, ACORN does not accept government funding and is not tax exempt.
Does A.C.O.R.N. accept public funds or not? If they do, the statement above is false.
Is A.C.O.R.N. a non-partisan organization? If so, how many of their 1.3 million new voter registrations are Republican? If not, the statement above is false.
