the window

Published Oct. 11, 2008

Someone sent me this by e-mail, and I just had to post it. Have a wonderful day, everybody.

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood.

The first morning in the new house, while she is eating breakfast with her husband, the young woman watches her neighbor hang the laundry outside to dry.

Pointing her finger at some visible stains on the freshly laundered garments, the woman tells her husband: “Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.”

Her husband looks on, but remains silent.

From that day on, every time she sees her neighbor hang her wash to dry, the young woman continues to make the same comments.

A month later, the woman is surprised to see sparkly clean sheets on the line, and says to her husband: “Look! She has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder what changed.”

The husband says: “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows!”

And so it is with life: What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look. Before we give any criticism, it might be a good idea to ask ourselves if we are ready to see the good, rather than look for something in the person we are about to judge.

Sandra, I loved this as I do all of your blogs! Great Saturday morning wake-up call!!

Thanks Sandra,

Just goes to show "I'd rather be on the inside looking out than to be on the outside looking in." So long as the windows are clean.

That was great!

That was AWESOME!! And sooo very TRUE!!! Thank you, once again Sandra, for starting our day off Right!

That's great one Kestrel.

Wonderful blog Sandra. For the most part I am a positive person who seeks out the positive. But it is always good to have a reminder.

"If you are looking for faults, use a microscope instead of a telescope." Unknown

I find this to be true. I constantly make faces on the glass at anything I see outside. It smears the glass terribly.

How true!

Beth

I tend to be very optimistic and look for the positive in any situation. I find that there IS a positive, even if it's not obviously visible. I feel that things happen for reasons, we just may not know the reason. I feel that there is SOME good in everyone, even if it is to show what NOT to do!

I remind myself often to be positive, and not look for the bad. Looking for the good is so much better. It's hard sometimes when all you hear is "bad news". Sometimes just going outside and looking up at the beautiful skies and seeing the birds and squirrels, can make you realize what an amazing world we live in.....
