who should vote?
Published Oct. 8, 2008Good morning, everybody!
Last night, as I watched the debate, I couldn't help shaking my head. Most questions asked were not answered directly, and each candidate basically rehashed the same practiced pitch over and over.
Politics today are a popularity contest, and candidates no longer focus on the good they can do for the country; all that matters to them is how many people can be twisted into buying their lies.
That part got me thinking. Who are the voters?
This great country was built on hard work and honor, yet today a lot of our citizens no longer share the moral and ethical values of our forefathers.
Because our country was mainly built on hard work, the only people who should be allowed to vote are those who pay taxes, and to register individuals should be required two things: a legally issued picture ID and two years of tax returns.
This should be more important than proof of citizenship, as legal residents can be more of an asset to the country, and work hard, than those citizens who don't contribute anything to the economy and to the stability of our nation. A lot of fraud could be avoided also, as pets and dead people wouldn't be able to produce tax records.
Let's give the right of decision back to the workers, and may God bless America.
What do you think?

I can't believe you try to tie this to founding fathers. They believed much more strongly in freedom and equal representation, they worked hard because they had to.
I support verifying citizenship, do that during the registration process. I don't mind showing ID at the polls, but taking a thumb print would be more flexible and more secure. Someone mentioned their vote being stolen, had there been a thumb print we'd have evidence against that thief. Or the thumb print could be checked in advance.
Some unemployed and/or homeless people are lazy, some just don't need to work, and some are victims of the system. So I'll fight to protect the rights of the lazy to protect the rights of everyone.
I agree, if you don't know, don't vote; but you still have the right.

I don't know what you said or they said but you just attacked conservates with your statement. FYI I have been called more stupid and moron and geritol on golo this election than I can count and they all came from people supporting Obama. They must not of been conservatives that called me these names. So your statement is incorrect.
