ultra right swift boat co-author deported for working illegally

Published Oct. 7, 2008

NAIROBI, Kenya - The American author of a best-selling book attacking Barack Obama as unfit for the presidency was being deported from Kenya on Tuesday, a criminal investigations official said.

Jerome Corsi, who wrote "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality," was picked up by police Tuesday for not having a work permit, said Carlos Maluta, a senior immigration official in charge of investigations.

He was briefly detained at immigration headquarters before being brought to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for deportation, said Joseph Mumira, head of criminal investigations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

TeamHatteras - it's a political stunt. And he is a half-brother - just to keep the facts right. And where's the moral obligation for Obama to help? Why should his half-brother be singled out for charity? Why doesn't Corsi provide money to hundreds or thousands of the people in the shanty towns?

And George has responded to claims that his family had abandoned him by insisting that he was content with life in a simple wooden hut.

“Life in Huruma is good. In other places you must lock yourself in to keep yourself safe,” he told The Times. “Here I am surrounded by friends and family and feel safe and secure.”

If you seriously believe this is anything but a political stunt, let McCain et al know that they have succeeded in duping another.

Corsi went to Kenya to give Obama's brother $1000 to help him out a little bit because Obama apparently has more important things to do with his time and money than to help out a family member in need.

Rev RB - someone from the UK could enter the US on a B-1 visitor visa perfectly legally as a tourist (or under the visa waiver program). But if they do any work, then it is illegal and the INS requires that the person be deported.

In Corsi case, it is more like the above rather than someone illegally entering the country by bypassing a formal port of entry etc.

Rev - this event is relevant because Corsi is one of the GOP's chief smear campaigners against Obama (please follow the links I provided), is a huge opponent of the North American Union and outspoken on issues regarding race and immigration.

The fact that he traveled to Kenya to peddle his anti-Obama book and entered the country illegally speaks volumes.

I do agree with you on one point - he should be imprisoned in Kenya rather than deported - though I doubt his offense permits imprisonment.

He didn't have a work permit. But I don't think that Kenya has an illegal immigration problem of the same scope as our own, so the draconian measures you suggest would seem completely unnecessary for them.

Steve - if you meant your comment seriously, I don't know what to say other than to point out my disgust at and pity for you.

I've been to Kenya. All of the people I met are decent and have a much greater respect for their country and environment than many people in this country. They suffer at the hands of a corrupt political movement.

Shame on you.

Not_So_Dumb - "Well, for one, the Kenyans don't get to decide our laws and nor we theirs."

I didn't say that, but to expand on the story - apparently this is also illegal in Kenya or they wouldn't be tossing the guy out.

Right???

God bless.

Rev. RB

Rev - "What difference does that make?"

Well, for one, the Kenyans don't get to decide our laws and nor we theirs.

Not_So_Dumb - "You are aware that this person was caught in Kenya and violating Kenya law, right? And that they are deporting him, most likely back to the USA, right? That this author broke no US law, right?"

What difference does that make? A law is a law, whether it's here in the USA or in Timbuktu.

They shouldn't be deporting him either; he should be serving time in THEIR prison system.

God bless.

Rev. RB

Rev RB - "Doesn't matter; a criminal is a criminal, and those who disrespect this country enough to break immigration laws deserve 25 years in prison RIGHT HERE IN THIS COUNTRY when they're caught.

Enough with sending them back to their homeland so they can come right back again."

You are aware that this person was caught in Kenya and violating Kenya law, right? And that they are deporting him, most likely back to the USA, right? That this author broke no US law, right?
