check from benefit concepts, inc - anyone else?
Published Oct. 6, 2008I just got a letter from a company called Benefit Financial Services & Consultants along with a check from Benefit Concepts, Inc. for $3,988.95.
Usually these kinds of checks have small print to the effect that if you cash it then you accept blah, blah, blah. This one doesn't.
Here's the gist of the letter:
We are pleased to inform you through this letter that our network shows you as the lucky winner of an unclaimed prize money in the amount of $57,000.
Blah, blah
Enclosed is a check which covers both the administrative taxes and Clearance fees of your winnings. For authorization and activation of this check, please contact your agent Teresa Robinson immediately at Tel: 1-514-576-0386 Your winnings must be claimed not later than October 07 2008.

A division of Benefit Concepts INC INC [sic] 60 Harvard Way, Boston, MA 02163
I looked up the address and it is Harvard Business School Publishing, a subsidiary of Harvard University (!!!!)
So, anyone else got this and know what the catch is? (Obviously it's a crock)

Your bank will require you to put your bank account numbers on the back which is what the scam issuer of the check will use to empty out your accounts.
Turn the whole thing over to the attorney general of the state of North Carolina.
