(heels group) tar heels crack top 25
by allison842Published Oct. 5, 2008
The University of North Carolina football team is back in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time 2001. The Tar Heels received 196 votes to make their debut this season at No. 22 in the weekly poll.
Carolina was ranked No. 22 in the AP poll for one week in 2001, but fell out of the rankings after losing at No. 23 Georgia Tech on Nov. 1, 2001.
Carolina is not ranked in this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches Top 25 poll, falling just 10 points/votes shy.
Did anybody expect this? Do you think it will last the rest of the season? I can only assume this is fantastic for recruiting for future teams as well.
Congrats to Bruce Carter too, by the way. Four blocked punts in a row, dating back to the last punt of the Miami game! Wow.

The Thursday night Rutgers game was huge for recruiting, for obvious reasons.
