jack's surgery
Published Oct. 2, 2008Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I have read them to Jack and they really made him feel better. His surgery is scheduled for today at 1:00. They anticipate a 3 hour procedure, then recovery, then ICU. He is hoping to be discharged on Monday and will come to my house for initial recovery. His dog, Jackie, really misses him. She will be very happy to see her daddy! As for the surgery, they are planning to make an incision from his hairline down about 5-6", remove the bone fragments that broke off, put a steel rod in his neck and fuse it to the 4 vertebrae with screws. The docs have explained the risks, which are serious. He's not in good shape about it emotionally. And they are giving him morphine for the pain. I plan to visit with him this morning and will keep you all informed. He values his relationship with all of you and I appreciate your support. Jo
