liberal media
Published Oct. 2, 2008I hope this doesn't turn into a bash-fest even though I think it might, but I was wondering if those that think that most media is biased towards liberals could explain why it is that way. Even though I could be described as left-wing, I think the media does tilt to the left, although not nearly as badly as many on here think. Again, please don't turn this blog into a anti-media blog, I would just like those that think it is left-wing to offer their opinions on why it is left-wing, not examples of it being left-wing.

As for the entertainment industry - yes, they lean to the left.

I think it can just as easily be argued that conservatives are equally unhappy as a result of so much having changed. That is the nature of the philosophies. One seeks change, the other doesn't. Neither is happy with the middle ground.

I cannot prove my own theory, nor disprove yours, but I do believe that when you are the first of a group, you do seem to get a pass. The number of people willing to make fun of Hillary sure increased over the campaign. I don't think it has anything to do with ideology, to be honest. I have seen both sides get mocked relentlessly.
I think Palin gets it worse (but not more, just harsher comments) because she fits so perfectly the caricature of the Christian conservative. It would be like if Obama had gold teeth, wore a do-rag and fit the black caricature.

Do you really believe that? Had Palin been the first female candidate, do you really believe she would have been treated with caution? It all depends on your perspective I guess. I see it as two female candidates being handled with a different set of rules, and the most obvious reason for that is one being a liberal democrat and the other being a conservative republican.

I think we're talking about two different things. I don't mean discontent. Conservatives are not happy when they see a democrat leading in the polls, and the media not asking him tough questions, and comedy shows making fun of him WAY less than the republican candidate. Yes, that causes discontent.
I mean happy, as in, I'm happy, even if the world ain't perfect. I think liberals are just unhappy in life because there's so much they want to change. If it won't happen in their lifetime, they are going to live their lives unhappy about it. I think conservatives are more grounded, and while driven to change what needs to be changed, are generally more happy with their lives in the process.

I think that is a valid comment. I also think, unfortunately for Palin, that Hilary used up most of the caution when it comes to treatment of female candidates, so she is getting it just like one of the 'old white guys' do.
