700 billion bailout

Published Sep. 28, 2008

So despite hearing from many Americans that they do not want this bailout to go through, the Congress is doing it anyway. I already intend to vote against all incumbents that inhabit Congress, so how our current Senators and House Members voted on this will not make a difference in my vote.  Will passage of this bailout package affect how you are going to vote?

Thanks for a little insight, whatelseisnew. I have never been thrilled with the aspect of a bailout, but I had not heard anyone speaking of alternatives yet.

"I actually would have preferred the Feds to put the money into infrastructure. Roads, Bridges, Dams, perhaps an oil refinery that could be sold to a private entity. All these actions would create jobs, and could get our steel industry going strong; more jobs."

That is pretty much what i have been thinking...a bottom up "New Deal" type of approach vs the top down approach that is currently being considered.

Recessions are only for poor people and the ones that cause it don't give a shiznit about us. It will be the poor people that will suffer so the rich can get richer. I am moving to Iraq so I can get some American money.

You cant be serious - It is my opinion that a recession is unavoidable. Oil is starting to pull back and that will be of some help. We do have a huge economy, and one of our bright spots has been exports. However, we have many major industries that are suffering: airline, auto, construction, and so on. I actually would have preferred the Feds to put the money into infrastructure. Roads, Bridges, Dams, perhaps an oil refinery that could be sold to a private entity. All these actions would create jobs, and could get our steel industry going strong; more jobs. Equipment manufacturers like Caterpillar. Companies that supply and ship material for construction would boom. Once you have more people back working, confidence resumes and they start buying things like cars and homes. I think that would get us a lot more bang for the buck and we do need a lot of stuff built and repaired in this country.

"What is so funny is that the democrats wouldn't pass the bill on their own."

It is not at all uncustomary for calls of bipartisan support in Congress for bills of such crucial importance to the nation. However, do not forget that the bailout plan was first handed to Congress by the Bush administration. One interesting thing that Congress did add to the bill, which Bush did not want, was strict oversight.

"Slick Rick Are you talking about a signed coffession from Obama or Rains? Nope never happen."

So you're just gonna copy, and believe in, allegations that others have made in the internet without checking facts? Guess what, it's not up to Raines and Obama to show that Raines is NOT Obama's adviser (although they both have stated that he isn't); it's up to the accusers to prove that Raines IS Obama's senior economic adviser. So where's the proof for the allegations you're making? Without any proof you're just spreading unsupported rumors that you know you can't support.

Slick Rick Are you talking about a signed coffession from Obama or Rains? Nope never happen. This whole bail out thing smells like a dead mackeral that’s been laying in the sun for 3 days.

vote for the lipstick...not for the dipstick...

"Oh yes do you think Raines and Obama would dare admit that Raines is an adviser???"

do you actually have any proof that he is?

Slick rick Oh don’t think that I am accusing just Obama, Their Both (Obama & McCain) are guilty as sin. We the taxpayer will be stuck holding the bag. I am trying to get more details; I really think that Goofy or Dopy will do a better job in the White House than either one of these two. Any time the government says that something has to happen ASAP or doom and gloom will beseech this country, you better hold on to your wallet. Oh yes do you think Raines and Obama would dare admit that Raines is an adviser???
