back in raleigh!
Published Sep. 23, 2008Well, after a six month stint in the mid-west, Im finally back in Raleigh. As I rode in on I-40 this morning during rush hour, it was clear... nothing much has changed, traffic-wise. The regular brake-tappers' ball was well under way... complete with fender benders galore.
It only appears 67234341 homes have been built since I left. (slight exageration)
The unfortunate thing is, I'll only be home for two weeks of R&R, then Im headed down to TX to aid in the clean up effort already under way. I get to come back for one more week, and then off to NJ after that. I think I'll get one of those silly where's waldo caps and have folks snap a large group photo where ever I go and start a photo tour blog.
If it weren't for GOLO, I don't think I'd feel quite as connected

I've been up in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois & Kentucky working on the transmission lines up that way. You might recall some years ago a single tree caused that massive multistate power outage up north? Truly as a matter of national security, the fed govt now wants utilities to prevent that from ever happening again by implementing a more proactive approach to vegetation management and thus, foresters from across the country were called together and worked across the Carolinas, then up to the mid-west (other states will follow) checking every last span of transmission lines for potential hazards. (and by hazards I mean damaged, sick, dying or dead trees, or even trees that have grown too close to the lines).
