how i really feel about the election...
Published Sep. 21, 2008I received this in an email today... It really angers me to no end.
"Just Because He's BlackA white man asked his black friend, "Are you voting for Barack Obama just
because he's black?"
The black man responded by saying, "Why not? Hell, in this country men are
pulled over everyday just because they're black; passed over for promotions
just because they're black; considered to be criminals just because they're
black; and there are going to be thousands of you who won't be voting for him
just because he's black! However, you do not seem to have a problem with that!
This country was built with the sweat and whip off the black slaves' back,
and now a descendent of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same
country, where we weren't even considered to be people, where we weren't allowed to
be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in the same
restaurants, or even vote. So yes! I'm going to vote for him! But it's not just because
he's black, but because he is hope, he is change, and he now allows me to
understand when my grandson says that he wants to be president when he grows
up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. He now sees, understands and
knows that he can achieve, withstand and do ANYTHING just because he's
black!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This, IMO, is simply irresponsible use of the voting privilege... My response:
"I choose not to discuss politics with others as I am registered as an independent voter, however, since people insist on sharing their views on the matter, I am tired of keeping quiet.
I feel that everyone is entitled to their own views on politics, religion, lifestyle, etc., yet I feel that the Democratic Party is really playing people, especially blacks for fools, much in the same manner that the Republican Party has done the entire country for the past 8 years and more.
This was all made concrete this week when my own parents said they no longer wanted me to be a part of their life, and this is putting it VERY lightly. If you can EVER entertain the thought of putting politics, moreover, your feelings about a presidential candidate before your own flesh and blood, YOUR OWN CHILD... Then yes... you are very foolish.
Sometimes, no OFTEN, the truth hurts.
Obama is no better than any other Washington politician that has come along. He's no better than McCain, Palin, even GW Bush ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThEAO0lt4Dw ) or Cheney. As much as I would like to see a black man or woman in the oval office, I ask that you PLEASE not let your desire to have a black president (and regarding Obama, that's a WHOLE 'nother can of worms) cloud your judgment as in the end, it's not going to matter in our daily lives. Family is most important. PERIOD.
I am far from making my decision on which persons I will vote for in the upcoming election, but I certainly will not let race become a factor in my choice.
I am tired of the smear tactics from either party, I had not liked it in the past and I CERTAINLY do not like it now. If you do not like Palin, McCain, or whoever, let it be due to factors in their own character and NOT about their children or families. Everyone has skeletons in their closet, some worse than others, and NO ONE wants to have such business aired, however, if people are going to play dirty, well look at all the facts on both sides. The media is very biased and is NOT a reliable, nor viable, source of information. If it were, since the candidate's families are going to be placed in the scope of issue, ALL of the candidates should be examined the same. For example look at the Palin family...

Now all that was stated in the above video is all verifiable through numerous means, yet not reported on any media outlet, not even Fox's Unfair and imbalanced reporting. Go figure. Any one else that chooses to not disown me because I am not going to vote for Obama because he's claimed to be black, well that's your prerogative, and as such, your entitled to your opinion, as I am entitled to the same respect not to share such views.
I am not going to vote for anyone just because of the color of their skin, it's irresponsible, moreover, I hold the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. VERY dear and it sickens me that blacks can dishonor his legacy and all that he, as well as those in our own family, has fought to secure for US as BLACKS in their efforts to secure equality. I have far too much respect for MLK Jr., further, our Aunt Florence and their memories, to EVER take such an issue so lightly. This behavior really makes me hold my head in shame.
It's saddening how easily people forget the past. It's much, MUCH too important. I am one of WRAL's Golo online blog personalities "Studweiser... KING of Studs," as well as a radio personalities for G105's Showgram, and I intend to make a difference, however, it will not be in disrespect of those that have laid the foundation for what I have and am able to achieve today. I have made my achievements, not because of my skin color, not because people supported me for being black, gay or otherwise, I achieved it by being an intelligent individual and proving to others that I have what it takes to do the job.
Obama needs to do the same. If he does he'll have my vote, until then, he's just another dirty politician.
Unfortunately, I believe I am only wasting my breath, but I can't just stand idle and tolerate such disrespect to those I find to be honorable blacks. Obama isn't even "black" IMO, he's Kenyan... African immigrants and their descendants are well known for looking down upon blacks and this all, literally, makes my skin crawl.
Mike
Studweiser... KING of Studs"
I don't expect a free ride from anyone. I don't expect a free meal or any handouts, due my my skin color, beliefs, sexuality or any other facet of my being, nor do I think ANYONE should be afforded such. This country needs an effective leader, not a cheerleader, not just hopes and dreams... Vote for who you believe will be best for the job. PERIOD.

Studly, I would gladly claim you as my relative. You have more decency and common sense in your pinky than a lot of my extended family in their whole bodies as a whole. I will gladly talk to them for you, if it would help. :) So, what's for dinner? What time should I come by? We can host Thanksgiving at my house. Tell bear to wear the "Queens" dress because I think he would look smashing in it. The color would go well with his eyes. He can keep the beard. :D

Obama is an empty suit - sad but true - there are many 'people of various color' vastly more qualified but not as well packaged and promoted.

Side note: "I will never vote to put a black boy in the office. This country is fine the way it is without some thug running it." ....willhawill
Why does WRAL permit people to hide behind these anonymous walls? It serves no purpose.

What a *great* reason to vote for someone. Not because of ideas... or innovation or creativity, or plans or policy, or track record.
Hope.
What a great slogan: "vote for me, and hope!"

I would get you a job where I work, but you would just screw it up and they would never hire another N* at this place again.
If O become president, he will screw it up, along with the hopes and dreams of all the other black people who could have made good presidents. I don't mind having a black president, but not him. And once we have one bad black president, this country will blame it on the fact he was black (even if that had nothing to do with it) and they will never vote in another black president again.
So vote a black guy, or woman, for president, just not this one. He will only disipoint all the races of America.
Just my view.
