what it the wide wide world of sports is going on out there?
Published Sep. 12, 2008What it the wide wide world of sports is going on out there? My sister is calling me from Tennessee where she is traveling for work and they are rationing gas to $10 dollars a person. I am hearing reports of prices jumping from 3.57 to 4.19 since this morning.
I understand the whole Ike issue, but why all the panic buying. It is like when they call for snow and you can’t get bread or milk in the store for two days.
I got to be honest that 5.00 a gallon (which is what the UPS guy is saying they are being told) would hurt. That is about 500 dollars a month in travel expense just to go back and forth to work.
What are you guys hearing?

I'd start walking if I had to pay that.
Most I've paid to fill up since I bought my Civic in May was 41 bucks, and the red light was on (the only time it has EVER been on since I bought the car).
My last couple of trips to the pump to fill it up were about 15-20 bucks each for about 1/4 to 1/2 a tank.

Why did I top it off when everyone is saying NOT to? Because I want to be able to get to work next week, if the prices do go higher or if the supply is interrupted or if stations do run out or if .......... I don't plan on going anywhere this weekend, to save gas, and I already work a four-10-hour-days-workweek to save on gas. Getting to work is important to me. I won't be like thousands who will joyride or go to the beach or to....... & burn their gas away needlessly. On top of that, I've lived through the joys of long gas lines & even/odd days of gas from the 70's. Thank you....I'll take mine NOW, at the less-than-predicted-high-prices.
