mccain- a "common man"; his wife: not so common...
Published Sep. 6, 2008It must be hard to pretend you're a "common guy" and accuse your opponent of being an elitist when your wife wore a $300k outfit at the convention:
http://www.vanityfair.com/online/politics/2008/09/cindy-mccains-300000-outfit.html
"To Cindy McCain, $300,000 is the price of an outfit.
To most Americans, $300,000 buys ...
... one and a half houses, given the national median home price of $206,500.
... a year's worth of health care for 750 people.
... the full array of back-to-school supplies and clothes for 500 kids.
... enough gas to drive cross-country 543 times.
... 365 round-trip flights from Washington, D.C., to Anchorage, Alaska. (John McCain should have splurged on at least one.)
... a three-course steak dinner (at Mat-su Resort) and a movie ticket (for the Mat-su Cinema) for every man, woman, and child in Wasilla, Alaska."

By investing money it does provide jobs. Investing allows corporations to hire new people for new projects. By saving money, it allows for new businesses or general people to get loans.
If all the loop holes were removed and everyone paid the same percentage tax rate, then people with money wouldn't try to hide it from being taxed.

Being elite is a statement of fact. Cindy McCain is among the nation's elite. No denying that. "Elitist," on the other hand, means:
"The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources."
Spouting off a list of nice things that money can buy, or detailing how much an outfit costs, does not even establish that Cindy McCain is "elitist," much less John McCain.

What exactly is the blog topic? That womens clothing designers are overpaid? That the candidates wives choice of attire is valid political fodder? That a blogger can use any stupid opinion to justify their choice of a candidate? Is this about class envy? I have no idea what the topic is. Someone help me out here....

Cindy McCain's dad, Jim Hensley, was born in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1936. He married his high school sweetheart around 1937. He worked as a paper salesman.
Hensley worked in the liquor distribution business as an employee of Kemper Marley, Sr., an Arizona rancher who had become wealthy in the liquor distribution business in Phoenix and Tucson following the end of Prohibition. He and his brother started the United Liquor Co. in Phoenix and the United Distribution Co. in Tucson that eventually became one of the largest Anheuser-Busch beer distributorships in the nation.
Jim Hensley then served 3 years as an officer in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a bombardier on B-17 Flying Fortresses. On his 13th mission, his plane was shot down over shot down over the English Channel. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

I don't like it when they DON'T spend money.
I don't like it when they DODGE TAXES and use TRUST fund protections to pass on wealth to those that didn't earn it.
I don't like them moving countries to avoid taxes, be it John Lennon or John Edwards.
I want everyone to make a lot of money and spend it anyway they see fit, but spend it so others can work. No one HAS to give money to me, to the poor or to anyone else. No one owes me anything. Who owes you something?
I certainly hope I would find better ways to waste my money than Cindy, but I would hope I would do like her and try to rid the world of unwanted land mines.
