information

I know it's late and I know this isn't the proper venue, BUT, who has any idea where I should go to find information about a combatant of the Korean War?  I'd love to give my father a copy of the citation(s) my grandfather received and I don't know where to begin...

Hey, hey, my dad was in the Army during the Korean War. Well, he was stationed in Panama and was one heck of a boxer. Let me know if you find any personal stories about buddies they bought tequila shots for and bet on to win matches.

Good luck on your quest!

well, keep us informed of your progess, and let us know if you need more help.

I need to explore some of the sites that have been mentioned. Thank you all for your help. This journey has been hampered by a fire that destroyed many records from the Korean Conflict. I've met a brick wall in my search...

The best place to start it at:

http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/replacement-medals.html

And if it is more than medal replacements you are looking for, go to the appropriate link on the left side.

Was he buried at Arlington? You don't have to give me the personal information, but if you can tell me what you do know, I might be able to help point you in the right direction. like, what branch of service, where his home of record would be (state), that kind of info. VFW (Veteran's of Foreign Wars) would probably be a good place to start. There are other organizations that have archives. If you know what type of citation he received...Gather every bit of info that you have before starting your seach. If the VFW can't help you, they can point you in the right direction. There may be a Korean War Veteran's organization...but I don't know, off the top of my head.

try this I think http://www.koreanwar-educator.org/topics/silver_star/index.htm
