Democrats' reintroduction of militant Michelle Obama in Denver was supposed to show her softer side. But it only highlighted a radical part of her resume: Public Allies.

By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Thursday, September 04, 2008

Barack Obama was a founding member of the board of Public Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife became executive director of the Chicago chapter of Public Allies in 1993. Obama plans to use the nonprofit group, which he features on his campaign Web site, as the model for a national service corps. He calls his Orwellian program, "Universal Voluntary Public Service."

Big Brother had nothing on the Obamas. They plan to herd American youth into government-funded reeducation camps where they'll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of "social change."

The pitch Public Allies makes on its Web site doesn't seem all that radical. It promises to place young adults (18-30) in paid one-year "community leadership" positions with nonprofit or government agencies. They'll also be required to attend weekly training workshops and three retreats.

In exchange, they'll get a monthly stipend of up to $1,800, plus paid health and child care. They also get a post-service education award of $4,725 that can be used to pay off past student loans or fund future education.

But its real mission is to radicalize American youth and use them to bring about "social change" through threats, pressure, tension and confrontation — the tactics used by the father of community organizing, Saul "The Red" Alinsky.

"Our alumni are more than twice as likely as 18-34 year olds to . . . engage in protest activities," Public Allies boasts in a document found with its tax filings. It has already deployed an army of 2,200 community organizers like Obama to agitate for "justice" and "equality" in his hometown of Chicago and other U.S. cities, including Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Washington. "I get to practice being an activist," and get paid for it, gushed Cincinnati recruit Amy Vincent.

Public Allies promotes "diversity and inclusion," a program paper says. More than 70% of its recruits are "people of color." When they're not protesting, they're staffing AIDS clinics, handing out condoms, bailing criminals out of jail and helping illegal aliens and the homeless obtain food stamps and other welfare.

Public Allies brags that more than 80% of graduates have continued working in nonprofit or government jobs. It's training the "next generation of nonprofit leaders" — future "social entrepreneurs."

The Obamas discourage work in the private sector. "Don't go into corporate America," Michelle has exhorted youth. "Work for the community. Be social workers." Shun the "money culture," Barack added. "Individual salvation depends on collective salvation."

"If you commit to serving your community," he pledged in his Denver acceptance speech, "we will make sure you can afford a college education." So, go through government to go to college, and then go back into government.

Many of today's youth find the pitch attractive. "I may spend the rest of my life trying to create social movement," said Brian Coovert of the Cincinnati chapter. "There is always going to be work to do. Until we have a perfect country, I'll have a job."

Not all the recruits appreciate the PC indoctrination. "It was too touchy-feely," said Nelly Nieblas, 29, of the 2005 Los Angeles class. "It's a lot of talk about race, a lot of talk about sexism, a lot of talk about homophobia, talk about -isms and phobias."

One of those -isms is "heterosexism," which a Public Allies training seminar in Chicago describes as a negative byproduct of "capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege."

The government now funds about half of Public Allies' expenses through Clinton's AmeriCorps. Obama wants to fully fund it and expand it into a national program that some see costing $500 billion. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the military, he said.

The gall of it: The Obamas want to create a boot camp for radicals who hate the military — and stick American taxpayers with the bill.

All they need is a catchy slogan - something like  "Blood and Honor" comes to mind....

"what is not good is having the purpose of teaching America's youth that you should tolerate and include only those who are not a "... negative byproduct of "capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege." In other words, white heterosexuals are the enemy. Why do I have to be the enemy? Aren't I just as American as anyone else? "

azotca, I didn't get at all that this was referencing people, but was about concepts.

I meant moot point but what the heck mute works too.

Just Ice- I admit I didn't watch the interview, just read the words. He probably did have a mocking tone. I'll give you that. I'm not going to defend it. I wish he didn't do it. But that doesn’t make it ok for her to mock him (I might be wrong, but she said her words first I think). I don’t think Obama is a perfect person or anywhere close. But I think part of the reason he gets like that is b/c he’s been accused by people in both parties that he doesn’t attack enough, and it showed a few weeks ago when McCain kept airing attack ads and Obama didn’t and McCain’s numbers started increasing. Again, I wish he didn’t do it, but that doesn’t change the fact that the majority of the RNC was hate speech against democrats in general, and Obama in particular.

Great News! I just checked with my community and everyone seems to be doing just fine. So This is a mute point for me except the part where they would have to extract more of my taxes to pay for more social engineering programs.

bullet656: "Just Ice-so by responding to being mocked by pointing out some numbers to compare by, he was mocking small town mayors? While I do think he stretched it, he had a decent point and was far from mocking."

You can rationalize it any way you want but I watched and listened to him speak and I heard to the reaction of the crowd as he made his smug statements.

Why don't you "You Tube" the speech and and watch his delivery and listen for the crowd's reaction? But you would never admit Obama mocked Gov. Palin.

At least I admitted she returned the favor and mocked his paper-thin resume.

Civil service is good. Giving back to the community is good. Encouraging and teaching America's youth to love they neighbor and help them in times of need is good.....

what is not good is having the purpose of teaching America's youth that you should tolerate and include only those who are not a "... negative byproduct of "capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege." In other words, white heterosexuals are the enemy. Why do I have to be the enemy? Aren't I just as American as anyone else?

So, do I encourage my white, heterosexual children to volunteer with this organization and receive the equivalent of $3000.00 a month plus ("a monthly stipend of up to $1,800, plus paid health and child care") to learn to tolerate and include everyone in social reform except for themselves and their peers?

Just Ice-Yes, they were negative opinions of others. Doesn't make them untrue. No I did not make them up. I really didn't think about it b/c as I was watching all the speeches I began to not even pay attention to all the hate speech b/c there was so much of it. I was just sharing what I learned b/c I just learned it last night and then today I saw this blog where people were talking about public service. I'm done. Don't want to argue with you about it. You can't change people's opinions, especially when its not even mine (I've got too many other reasons not to vote for them).

In exchange, they'll get a monthly stipend of up to $1,800, plus paid health and child care. They also get a post-service education award of $4,725 that can be used to pay off past student loans or fund future education.

So this is not really voluntary but taxpayer funded positions. Where else would they get the money to pay the above? Like I said just another way to provide more social programs at taxpayers expense.

bullet656: "Nope, I wasn't even stating my opinion, just those of others."

Yep. You were stating your opinion by posting negative statements made by others (or made up by you).

bullet656: "Sorry if you don't like it."

No need to apologize. That's your opinion. And it's not that I didn't like it. It's simply wrong and I don't agree with it.

So who "exactly" mocked who and who did it first?

Barack Obama attacked the argument that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has more experience that he does by pointing to the small scale of her government leadership during an interview with CNN that will air Tuesday night.

"My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month," Obama said.

Just Ice-so by responding to being mocked by pointing out some numbers to compare by, he was mocking small town mayors? While I do think he stretched it, he had a decent point and was far from mocking.
