chicago more dangerous than iraq
Published Sep. 4, 2008Sorry folks, Im not going away, so many on here used to tell me about how the war was unwinable, and how bad we were losing, yada, yada, yada now we are actually losing more people in one American city than in Iraq and Afghanistan COMBINED, from May 31st to September 1st 125 people have been murdered in Chicago, and 245 have been wounded in shootings. The casualties for Iraq and Afghanistan for the same time period are 65 troops KIA in each theater of operations.......Chicago is just 1 city, I wonder what the figure would be if they threw in every major city in America. I got this from cbs2chicago.com

Afghanistan, IMO, is NOT going to be held and is not worth too much expenditure. Saudi Arabia could collapse at any time, and will, and deserves to.
Iraq borders Syria, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the Persian Gulf, Turkey...and if you added the countries bordering Afghanistan, you see the US military boot on each side of Iran, saying once more the strategic position (without Communist check) the USA has held in the region. The USA has had an open window where everything except the UNITY of WILL to impose our will on the region. That moment in history is passing as western wealth flows in unparalleled amounts in such short time to Russia and Asia.

War is a disaster in and of its self - sometimes it is necessary but it it always tragic. And for those that say it was poorly planned - the battle plan always changes the instant the first bullet leaves the muzzle.
And all the people talking about troop rotation - WWII troops were rotated when so severely wounded they could not recover to fight again, they were killed, or the war was over. Most troops were in the ETO over three years.
