did anyone see tropic thunder?
Published Sep. 4, 2008Hubby and I saw this movie last weekend, with no kids we stuck around after "The Dark Knight" to watch "Tropic Thunder". I wasn't expecting much, but my sides hurt when the movie was over. We laughed so hard, I almost wet myself!! And it wasn't just me, the whole theater was roaring with laughter.
There were a couple parts that you didn't know whether to laugh or not (for fear of not being PC) but I couldn't help it, and after I started laughing most of the others in the theater laughed too.
So did anyone else see it? What did you think? Did you think it was funny? stupid? Am I just a retard?
I don't normally enjoy Tom Cruise, but he had me crying, I was laughing so hard!!!
Gotta go pick up the youngins... I will check back later

One of many notable lines in the movie ... after being asked what kind of farmer he is, he whips out two machine guns and starts riddling bullets everywhere, and says (in his black characters voice) .... I'm a lead farmer, mutha f*cker!!! Priceless.

Regarding the uproar over the use of the word "retard," that was overreacting and not thinking through the situation. Sure, the word is offensive to some (myself included), but there's nothing wrong with the fact that it's spoken in a fictional movie -- that doesn't imply anything about the director, producers, writers, or actors. It tells you something about the characters, who are completely fictitious, anyway. Movie characters say and do objectionable/offensive things all the time. Real people shouldn't make such a big deal out of it.
What I'd like to know, Oala, is which movie was better? I saw Dark Knight and loved it. (And nobody complained that the Joker is a murderer.)
