tropic thunder
Published Sep. 3, 2008Who has seen the movie Tropic Thunder? What did you think of it? I saw the movie with my wife a few weeks ago and we both laffed our behinds off. It is an adult comedy with adult language and adult themes and yes it attacks certain groups of people which some may find offensive. I wasnt offended. I knew what I was getting into when i went to see the movie. I thought it was funny. And my favorite character is Robert Downey Jr playing the black sargent. I have an uncle that talks and has those same mannerisms. All in all, my stomach ached from laffin' so much. Especially when Stiller threw the toddler from his shoulders like a "chinese Star". I will tell you what was offensive though... Hearing and seeing some kids around my childrens age (9 and 11) laffin' and leaving the show when we got up... Why would a parent bring their child to such a movie?

And just what do you people have against children going to see The Dark Knight? Magic tricks are a staple of age-appropriate children's entertainment... and I thought that "Want to see me make this pencil disappear?" was a humdinger.
;p

Yeah... when movies poke fun at pretty much EVERYTHING, I can deal. If they single out one group, I am fine, as long as it isn't over the top...
I'm not easily offended, though, even if the 'group' turns out to be one to which I belong. I mean, it's just movies. ;)

Point taken, but really? Jim Carrey is a lousy actor. ;)

LOL
Nah... I saw Dark Knight on opening day, in the late afternoon.
It seems this 'little kid at the theatre' thing was a trend all around.
Which is kinda freaky.
Heck, I thought it was odd when people brought toddlers to see the Lord of the Rings movies.
Gollum is pretty scary for kids.

This is where I tell people to grow up and knock the 2 year old "I'm Offended" carp off.
But you know - they knew two things when they went in there: 1. it was 8th grade or college immature humor and 2. that generally movies like that offend someone.
So, because of their lack of common sense, I suggest they go outside and become one of those reporters who report what is going on in Tornadoes. But one caviot. Don't move.
