motorcycle accident
Published Sep. 3, 2008After seeing Old Rebel's post about motorcycle accidents and being a motorcycle rider myself I figured I would post information about an accident that happened in wilson. Without going into the gruesome details of the accident, I will post what the news media was able to report on and leave it at that. All I will say is, I hope all of you fellow motorcyclist keep your speed to an acceptable level. 100+ Mph into a utility pole = Bad things.

A Wilson woman was killed in a motorcycle accident Monday night around 9:25 p.m. in the 2900 block of Forest Hills Road.
Mary Beth Perry, 35, of Stantonsburg Road, died as a result of injuries she sustained in the accident, Officer Kolly Burritt, spokeswoman for the Wilson Police Department, said this morning.
Burritt said that Perry and a friend, whose name had not been released by investigators, were riding their motorcycles when Perry lost control of her motorcycle and collided with a utility pole.
The accident happened in the area near Massengill Motors.
The preliminary investigation indicates that speed was a factor in the accident, said Burritt.
No further details were released about the accident as the investigation is still ongoing.

I have to admit that this morning on the beltline, there was a biker weaving in and out of traffic and nearly clipped the rear end of a truck as he cut too close to him. WHY do people act like they own the road? I do NOT want to be the one behind one of these Evel Knievals or the one that they hit. It would tear me up. Folks, if you are on or IN any vehicle, drive safe. The life you save MIGHT be your own.

The worst part (saftey wise) about riding a motorcycle is other drivers. PPl just don't pay attention. Most times, its not even the motorcycle's fault... Ppl just don't look for motorcycles. They look for cars, see and 'empty' spot and switch lanes... without ever checking blindspots for motorcycles. Happened to a friend of mine, who hasn't been right since his accident.
