wanna help 91,000 kids in and around the triangle?
Published Aug. 29, 2008On my way home this afternoon, I kept thinking about all those WRAL-FM folks standing out in this humidity & heat... waiting and hoping that their efforts will yield "fruit from their labor" that will help kids and their parents in need. WRAL-FM staff, along with people from the Inter-Faith Community Services, are collecting food (and I think backpacks FOR the food) to give out to those needy kids so that they can take a decent lunch to school.
So as I drove home, I made a detour. Yeap, I headed to BJ's Warehouse and looked for some bargains. I found them too...fruit juice, granola bars, and fruit snacks in bulk. After loading up the items in the back of my truck, I headed across the street and turned into Crossroads Shopping Center. I found this group of great people waiting with a smile! And might I say WRAL-FM has some pretty little ladies working for them!!! Anyway, they looked hot and tired from this heat. The Inter-Faith Food van was there also and there is plenty of room left in the back of it for more food. Wanna help em help others? I know for a fact that your food donations would be greatly appreciated. They are, you know, bearing this heat for helping others in need. The least we can do is reward their efforts.
They are set up in the parking lot in front of Old Navy. Just turn in off Walnut Street, go straight, and you will see them on your left in the parking lot. WRAL has given us GOLO, so why not throw in a few cans of food in your car and head on over there and drop them off. I didn't even have to get out...all I had to do was to point to the back of my truck. By the time I left, at least ten thank-you's were sent my way.
Let's support them and give back a little to a great station, while at the same time help the needy in our area. Times are hard for many of us, but especially hard for the ones who will benefit from this drive. Thanks in advance.
