women's eyes are being opened, as democrats show women what they "really" think of them

Published Aug. 29, 2008

Wow! Some of you have REALLY shown exactly what many of us suspected, all along.  You don't REALLY respect women and their issues and their value in the political process.

Interesting information about Sarah Palin, that democrats are ignoring and/ or disrespecting:

1) 2 term mayor, 2 term city council member, governor of Alaska - defeating 2 former governors to get there, with little money (can you say "executive experience" - more than Obama and Biden COMBINED!)

2) mother - 5 children, one with Downs, one about to be deployed (Army) (can you say Blue Star Mothers?-includes member of not just those who actively serve, but  those who have been honorably discharged - we're talking millions)

3) head of Alska Oil and Gas Conservation Convention (can anybody say "energy")

4) from Idaho originally, now living in Alaska, an avoid hunter and fisherwoman (can you say NRA - over 4 million strong?)

5) pro-life - (can you say EVANGELICALS?)

6) "blue collar", "union member" husband...hmmmm (can you say disenfranchised Hillary voters, at least 5 million?)

7) history of REALLY "working across the aisle" to get things done

I'm sure there's more, but I can say this - this changes the whole ballgame!

I'm happy with this selection.  The more I hear, coming out of her mouth, the more I like her.

I might even have to sign up to help campaign for the ticket!

The sexism from the left is unbelievable. You are the FIRST to say the coronation of Obama has nothing to do with him being black - even to the point of throwing the first female nominee of a major party, Geraldine Ferraro, under the bus. teh left LOVEs to throw around the charge of hypocracy and like most people who do, it's easy to see why. I suspect all this hypocritical behavior, will turn many more women against what was traditionally "their" party. I couldn't be happier!

"I'm pleased McCain has shown he has no qualms about picking the best qualified, regardless of gender."

Gender had nothing to do with that choice? Um, yeah, right.

bullet...reference the "reardless of gender" means just that. Inmy mind, McCain looked at the short list and Palin was the top one to pick. Her politics, her past history, her personal strengths and grace...In my mind her gender was not as important as who she is and what she can do in service to the nation. Of course her gender is important, but it also carrys baggage just as it carries postive atributes. One could say the same of any candidate. They're obviously going to pick who they can mesh with and who will be the overall ticket. I think he made a good pick with palin, regardless of her gender.

LOL@TBK

and how would a woman VP on the republican side negate the changes proposed by obama/biden?

OldRebel-I don't know much about her other than what I've read on these blogs but I agree that she appears to be a good pick. But how can you say "I'm pleased McCain has shown he has no qualms about picking the best qualified, regardless of gender". You really don't think that her gender had anything to do with it? The point of this blog and the opinions on here, from both the left and the right, seem to disagree with you. And all the pundits who've had her on the list for awhile have been saying he might pick her to attract women and that's why she was on the lists. She seems to be a good pick, regardless of gender, but that obviously played a factor.

As for "Looks like the "change" candidates of Obama/Biden aren't really "change" afterall", yes, it would be a great change to have a woman VP, but she won't affect "change" near as much as Obama potentially could as president. Remember, she's still VP.

I wonder if Palin being chosen as McCain's running mate makes Michelle Obama proud of her country for the SECOND time in her adult life. LOL

Tickled to death with this selection. I'd read of her back during the primaries as there was quite a bit of speculation of her being on the short list. I'm pleased McCain has shown he has no qualms about picking the best qualified, regardless of gender. As McCain said before, it's about doing the "right" thing regardless of the outcome, not doing whatever it takes to affect the outcome. Looks like the "change" candidates of Obama/Biden aren't really "change" afterall...The whole paradigm has shifted with this choice.

blackdog - "As a registered gun owner, I believe we need gun control to remove weapons from criminals more. How can you be opposed to that ?"

I have heard it argued that the only people who those laws impact are the law abiding. Criminals don't care about gun control laws. They are criminals, after all.

That isn't my stance, but that is the rote response I get from the staunch 2nd Amendment crowd.

As a registered gun owner, I believe we need gun control to remove weapons from criminals more. How can you be opposed to that ?
