Published Aug. 28, 2008LAUREL, Miss. — A day after the largest single-workplace immigration raid in U.S. history, Elizabeth Alegria was too scared to send her son to school and worried about when she'd see her husband again.
Nearly 600 immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally were detained, creating panic among dozens of families in this small southern Mississippi town.
Alegria, 26, a Mexican immigrant, was working at the Howard Industries transformer plant Monday when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents stormed in. When they found out she has two sons, ages 4 and 9, she was fitted with a bracelet and told to appear in federal court next month. But her husband, Andres, wasn't so lucky.
"I'm very traumatized because I don't know if they are going to let my husband go and when I will see him," Alegria said through a translator Tuesday as she returned to the Howard Industries parking lot to retrieve her sport utility vehicle.

Ok, maybe I was wrong to laugh... well... ok, I'm still laughing... Yeah, heartbreaking, but I'm sorry. You're breaking and exploiting US law.
Now you know the little tags that stores use to deter theft?! RFID technology has reduced considerably in in size and cost, while gaining more capability.
Somehow I can see a surge in the use of such devices, The US could decide to create an ICE registration and tracking system. using technology such as RFID implants , which would be much less expensive, and more secure, then using ankle devices. I'd propose to close the anchor baby loophole and register all children of known illegal aliens as well.
Unfortunately, some will see this as evil, however, remember, they are criminals.
They're already tracking the rest of us to some extent... heh.

For the record, illegal whatever should live in as much fear as a tax evader, but not a rapist or murder. There is a difference in severity. I don't fell sorry for her because all that happens is she is sent home to reunite with her family.

They are already trying to place RFID devices in forms of ID, you have to carry identification, is this type of labeling any better?

Yeah I know, but I like to play devil advocate at times.

You know that my comment was directed at the multitude of things that people on here have suggested be done to them when they're caught.
I have no problem with them being found, humanely held and deported. It's the lynch mob stuff that's circulating that gives me gas.

Immigration violations are not felonies, or even criminal offenses at all. They're civil violations, the penalty for which is expulsion.

Do you feel sorry for rapist? Or a murderer? Or a tax evader? Or a drug dealer? These are all felonies. But yet, some people will have you believe that another felony is perfectly okay. The illegal immigrants should live in fear, the same fear that a rapist, murderer, tax evader, and drug dealer should have if they are not caught. Remember: just because your cause is noble does not make your actions right.

There's a legitimate and proper way to deal with these people, but these lynch mob tactics that are being lauded all over GOLO aren't it.
