a shout out to our state capital police!
Published Aug. 27, 2008
Just wanted to give a SHOUT OUT TO OUR STATE CAPITAL POLICE!
Officer Fields and Officer Proctor, if the names are incorrect please forgive me, as you know, I am finally unstressing. LOL
We always take a moment to bash our L.E.O. I wanted to take a moment to APPRECIATE them. From big to small, they are there for us. 99% are hard working people wanting to serve their community. That 1%, well this blog isn’t about them.
The background for this blog is basically my day went to hell in a hand basket.
While having lunch today with a co worker sitting in my car, a tornado warning was issued. Well hells bells, we were told to get in the building immediately. So out of the car we jumped and in the process I hit the lock button, and rushed into the building. Well low and behold, the sun was shining the birds were singing, my heart was racing and not a tornado in site. So, bless their hearts, we sat in a room full of hens clucking for 45 blessed minutes. LOOOONNNNNGGGGGG minutes.
Finally, I got back to my desk, continued my work, started to wrap it up for the day and could not locate my keys. Yep, that’s right UT OH!, please don’t let it be. My keys were sitting in the cup holder of my car nice and securely locked up. LIKE FORT FREAKING KNOX! Sigh….add to this lovely picture, a second steady drizzle of rain would only be topping on this cake.
So I stand there looking dumbly into my car, hoping beyond hope that I have transformed into Genie, or Samantha and the doors would just pop open on their own accord. Let me tell you, it is heartbreaking when you realize that these shows really were just TV shows and no matter how hard you blink or twitch you nose, the dang blasted door is not going to open for you! So, you move on to option 2 which is a little closer to reality.
You turn around looking pitiful and helpless while rain in pouring on you and watch everyone drive past you going home to their nice dry and happy freaking homes. And, yes, you actually pray that they get a flat. Hey, we’re only human as I have come to learn in my world of reality.
Finally, after common sense kicks back in, I’m informed to call the State Capital Police. That was funny in itself, because the nice co worker that called for me had to give a description of my car, a description of me, and here’s a dozy for you, was asked if I was black or Hispanic. Ummmm..ok…don’t see where that matters as I will be the only one out there as described, but ok…she told them all of the above plus white. LOL. We got a good laugh out of that one. We figured they would look for a zebra that spoke Spanish.
Anyway, I didn’t as I expected to, have to wait long, wonderful Officer Fields (my hero) showed up to help me, then Officer Proctor showed up to help her, and then Officer, I don’t know who he was showed up to supervise from the car.
Did I mention that ones heart does tend to speed up a bit when a bunch of po-po rolls up on them. Especially when they are a walking minority profile. A female black woman with a Hispanic last name. I’m just teasing the wonderful officers. They were very helpful and made a scary situation (because my babies were stranded at daycare) a non stressful event.
So for all the L.E.O. out there serving us, even for the little jobs like this, THANK YOU! You are appreciated. You could have done the job with an attitude, or took your time in getting there, but you didn’t, you guys were wonderful and helpful. Thanks for all your service.
Be safe!

Glad things worked out well for you - and I understand the kids in daycare waiting on Mom feeling.
I had a flat tire one night in a cold rain (34F otuside) on the way home from work to get my kids... and as I asked for help (I couldn't budge the dang lug nuts myself), suggestions were made that would have taken alot of time to wait for someone to come help me.... My mind was just in Mommy Mode - I just needed someone to help me right then, so I could get to my kids!!! (I did end up finding help).
So, hugs to you for having to go through that.

No problem. Sometimes I can't get my point across in enough words and it comes out rude. I guess I'm not a good blogger.

And one that talks in a sexy male voice wouldn't be bad either, as long as it knows to shut up when I'm PMSing...LOL

Very nice blog, Chill. I am very grateful for our LEO's. They've helped me out before, as well. That's not the only reason I appreciate them though. They get "bashed" when they don't deserve it. Most of the ones that talk so bad about the LEO's are the ones that have been in trouble with the law and get mad because they "got caught". "Them stupid "leo's" should have been doing something else, then they wouldn't have caught me". That's the mentality of some folks. Have a good evening y'all. I'm glad everything was ok, Chill.
