have you made the switch?

Published Aug. 25, 2008

We were a customer of Time Warner for 5 years. The only problem was an extended outage.

We moved and TWC was not an option it was Charter Communications. We have been with them for 4 months and I can't stand it any more. I was a slave to DVR with TWC however, Charter, when they finally got it, their charge is 15.00 a month!!!!!!!! After fighting with billing issues and not having DVR.....

I called embarq. We will get phone, tv and satellite for around 120 a month and that price is locked in for two years.

Do you have direct tv, if so, what is the pro and cons, in your opinion?

Slip, the dish had "DirectTV" painted across the middle of it, so I assumed it was theirs.

I agree with slip kid. I hated TWC and have been very pleased with Directv. We've had them for about 1 1/2 years this time. Very few times does my service go out and only if the rain comes up from behind our house.

The embarq package sounded good to my wife and after installation came the news that the stations presented as part of the package were not available. However, they could be had for an extra $4o. Be careful of what you ask for. Ask for a list of channels and such before the installer comes. Their sales representative misrepresented the package to make a sell.

SilverD - you've been previously brainwashed by cable companies, lol. The dish is not DTV's, it was the previous owners. If you had bought (or leased) an new/used DTV receiver, you could've 'turned on' the service. Without the service and receiver purchase, there was nothing DTV could or would do for you. Glad you got rid of it as it's your yard, only have in it what you want! :)

Have had DirecTV for 10 years, love it, recommend it, will NEVER give TWC another dime if I can help it.

I loved TWC until they gave us a new HD box and they upgraded our service. Now the box is slow to respond to commands, we have to re-boot the darn thing a few times a week and the picture freezes up. I would love to have my old box back.

Believe me TWC folks, if TWC was available, I would be on it like white on rice. Their customer retention is outstanding. When my introductory period was offer, I called to lower my phone service to just the "Carolina". The CSR offered to continue the start-up amount on all three services for an additional 12 months.

Cotton same here! I have been using RoadRunner in Durham since the initial rollout back in 99 or so, back then I only had 1.5Mbit service as it was all that was offered. Now with 10Mbits of usable bandwidth I would NEVER look back. I may drop TWC for television service eventually, but right now it's not all that important.

Silver, DirctTV said something similar to me when I lived in Roxboro, which is how I got stuck with Charter (ugh!) I hate DSL and Sprint for that matter, and I had Sprint as my phone provider in Roxboro... LoL!

im happy with TWC digital phone, braodband and two cable boxes in two rooms. The service is above others, always has been for me. I can't see me going to anything less than braodband once i have experienced it
