beth's blog:

do you have direct tv? if so, would you recommend it?

My husband gets Time Warner Cable, but is thinking about switching to Direct TV.  He'd save about $30.00 per month.

If you have Direct TV, would you recommend it?  Are you happy with it?

Thanks!       :-)

Beth

I have Direct TV so I can get the football ticket. That is about the only reason I have it.

I HATE FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! That's one of the reasons he wants it, plus, he'll save $30.00. DID I MENTION I HATE FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:-)

I have direct TV and I like it, but it goes out every time there is a big cloud/storm in the south. I also think it is too expensive.

That doesn't sound too good! He pays $128.00 a month for cable, so I guess, to him, DTV would be cheaper, but again, he loves football.

Now, if the Direct TV went ouf while I was watching one of my shows, like...........Swingtown, or The Cleaner, I WOULD FLIP OUT AND BLOW A GASKET! WE CAN'T HAVE THAT! Hee hee!

Beth

I have directv and love it. I do lose signal with heavy rain. But I also used to lose my cable signal for days with heavy rains. At least when the storm is over the signal is back.

We lose the signal with bad weather too, but I have to have my Football Tic. Sorry you hate football, and if I did, I would be with TWC.

I have the Dish.... good intro. price then it goes up. I have Speed Network so I don't miss any races, and the NFL Network. I also have ESPN-U which is handy for college football. Seems it's about $60 a month.

I had trouble in storms and rain events at first, but they came out and realigned the dish and now I only have trouble in monster weather events when TV is the least of my concerns anyway.

DO NOT get it, it's awful.I used to have it but I switched to Time Warner. The satellite signals don't go through when it rains, and during the fall and spring the service will go out completely for hours at a time. I think it has something to do with the rotation of the earth. Also, there have been countless complaints about over-billing and outrageous fees. And you can forget about customer service. So unless you really need that extra $30 a month, I'd recommend staying with Time Warner.

Scarecrow, thanks! The more I read, the less I like the idea.

Beth

"Now, if the Direct TV went ouf while I was watching one of my shows"

I can guarantee that's going to happen sometimes. I'd miss entire shows at least once a month. It was so frustrating!
