gubernatorial debate
Published Aug. 20, 2008So did anyone catch last nights Gubernatorial Debate from Durham?
1st.. Gubernatorial .. now that's a funny word. Guber - too close to Goober to me.. which is exactly how I saw one of the players.
While I wasn't impressed with many of McCrory's answers, to me, he took that debate hands down. For one reason and one reason only: For the most part he actually answered the stupid questions.
When Perdue was asked about Healthcare - all she could do was mutter on about how important Mammograms were and prostate checks.
Well duh... that was not the question. The question was, what is your plan? Of course she just didn't get it.
When asked about illegal immigration - Perdue? Well the Federal government needs to do something. But for all the undocumented workers in NC? We need to get them documented.
Ok - I'm wrong. I give her credit there. She answered the question. She plans on making NC a safe haven by giving documents to illegals that the Federal Gov't won't. Nice! (She's really not that bright is she - how has she gotten this far?)
When asked about drilling - she did somewhat answer the question, however her lack of knowledge was so clear and forthcoming it was scary. MUCH like her NC Energy policy ideas. She doesn't have a clue. She wants to MAKE oil companies drill on the leases they already have.
Perdue (and other clueless people) - If you had been paying attetention or keeping up with facts - you would have been "in the know" that the reason that the current leases have not be utilized is because 1) there isn't enough in the specific areas that have been leased to make it cost effective to drill 2) some are so deep that deep sea ocean drilling is super expensive and would hurt not help.
Come on Perdue - you want to run NC! You gotta keep up!!!!!
Why is it so hard to find qualified people who really want the job to help the people.
I may not have agreed with many of McCrory's answers but at least he actually put thought into them and clearly are issues he's made himself "in the know" about enough that he could answer the questions intellegently.
BY THE WAY: THIS DEBATE Made me think about something last night.
I HAVE A QUESTION TO ALL LIBERALS:
Why exactly are school vouchers bad to you? Public schools are failing. We keep throwing more money and more money and more money. In Wake Co alone the estimated cost per child in public schools is over $13,000 per child.
It costs less than that at most private schools in Wake Co, per child and it has been proven acedemically that private schools out perform public.
So why is giving vouchers (credits) to parents who CHOOSE to take their child out of public school and put them in private school a bad idea?
I'm being serious, I don't understand the argument against it.
