house, dry wall nearing completion

For those who are interested, here's the latest progress on the house.
While we did change the outside appearance pretty drastically, our goal all along was to keep the inside looking and feeling as authentic as possible. It is finally beginning to feel "real" again, now that dry wall is ALMOST all hung. Now the house looks like a house inside as well as out. No more skeletal walls we can look and walk through. There are actual WALLS inside now!
We have a friend who has experience taping and mudding. He spent Friday and Saturday at the house working on that while we were installing the water line from the road to the house. We had a ditch witch to dig the trench, but we buried it by hand. Every foot along that 800 foot path made me so thankful that I went to college and got a degree! That is NOT a job I'd want to do for a living, I promise! And let me be the first to say that those who do that job have my UTMOST RESPECT!!!! Fortunately for us, the ground is very good soil or sand, very few rocks.
While I was at home recovering on Saturday, my husband and son went back to the house to connect the line under the house, and *** drum roll please *** install a toilet!!!!! Just one, in the half bath, but it's like finding a treasure! Until the county inspects the line and installs a meter, we can't hook up the water. But we can take buckets of water out there and use that to flush! Trust me! This is WONDERFUL news! No more mad dashes to the gas station or trips into the woods. My husband and son think I've gone a tad daft b/c of my total excitement over this milestone, but my daughter is right there with me in the excitement factor!!! ;-D
Meanwhile, during this wonderous event, my son decided to help our friend who was taping and mudding. He asked to be shown how to mud and apparently is a natural at it and enjoys doing it. So while we are finishing the last little bit of dry wall, he'll be mudding all the screws.
All in all, things are definitely continuing to move forward, slowly but surely! We have managed to find a mutually acceptable solution to the one glitch we've encountered - the continuous headroom over the stairs. I've included a picture of the solution in my image gallery.
There is also a picture of my 'wild idea' for the half bath (besides a working toilet of course). For some reason (old wall studs or ceiling joists?), the hose for the vent couldn't be ducted through the wall. We were going to have to block out a chase along one wall/ceiling to hide the duct. I made the executive decision to create a tray ceiling effect, rather than just have one blocked-out section in the bathroom. My father-in-law (a truly great person who showed a lot of patience with me), wasn't quite sure what I had in mind, but was willing to go along with me in creating the design. I'm pleased to say it turned out rather nice, if I may say so myself!!!

We hope to be in within 60 days, but we're not setting that in stone. We've tried that and it stressed us out trying to work to a schedule like that. So we just work as hard as we can, do as much as we can, as quickly as we can. And we'll be in as soon as we can! Hopefully, trim out won't take too long and we'll be in by Oct.
