a word about coupons and savings from harris teeter

Good afternoon GOLO:
I posted a blog from the Money Savers group about coupons on Tuesday, that sparked quite the conversation.
There was some back and forth about Harris Teeter doubling and tripling coupons and this bit of information took many by surprise.
So, I decided to contact Harris Teeter's corporate office to see if I could get some additional information for those GOLO members who were interested.
I just spoke to Catherine Reuhl, Communications Specialist for Harris Teeter. Her office is in Charlotte, and she was very helpful.
When asked about how HT is providing savings she replied:
"Harris Teeter strives to provide its shoppers with top quality products at competitive prices and has introduced many ways for customers to save throughout the store. Harris Teeter encourages customers to take advantage of the over 4,000 weekly specials that are available throughout our stores."
Below is a bullet point list of savings she provided:
- Shoppers can sign-up for e-VIC, an online tool that informs them of special savings.
- Customers can also take advantage of two in-store programs - Unreal Deals and Budget Stretchers.
- Unreal Deals allow shoppers to take advantage of over 20 value priced specials in its meat department.
- Budget Stretchers can include a variety of much needed items like.99 whole grain white bread and buy two get one free promotions.
Ms. Reuhl said they also accept manufacturers coupons and sent me a link to their policy.
Her e-mail ended with this:
"Please let me know if you have any additional questions."
So, if you have any, I will pass them on.

I was so hurt when I found this out one day. I went with a 2$ coupon, thinking I was going to get $4 off.
I've learned from this. I didn't know I could take one store's flier and get that price at another grocery!

You also find out where the deals are. Every Wednesday, Sue Stock from N&O posts the week's deals for the Grocery stores and the Drugs stores. (always the top threads in each category).
