These tips were taken from my last issue of "Workbench."
1. Instead of buying those plastic paint tray liners, try lining your roller tray with Press & Seal, a self-sticking Saran wrap type of product. The plastic is tacky on one side, and easily presses into the paint tray and stays in place. Disposal is easy, too and a lot neater than the liners. Just peel them up, and throw them in the trash.
2. A real handy way of storing small screws, nails, or other small hardware is to use the plastic shakers that grated parmesan cheese comes in. The holes are large enough to shake just a few pieces at a time out, plus you're saving the container from the landfill.
3. At the end of a paint job, get a small spaghetti sauce jar or even baby food jar and put some of your paint in there to store it. It holds enough to make touch-ups as needed, takes up a lot less space, and seals tighter than cans.
4. De-fuzz new paint rollers before using them by wrapping them in blue painter's tape before the first use. When you peel off the tape - you peel off most of the fuzz.
5. If you are using measuring tools with the measurements stamped or pressed into them, wipe a little paint over the area where the markings are, then wipe off the excess. The paint left in the markings will make them LOTS easier to see!
