 Welcome to Golo, you will find that Golo is very much what you make of it. Thanks to Strolling Bones, here are some hints to get you started. 

 1)     Select a name and fill out your profile.  You have two graphics to fill out when you do your profile; the first one will be the graphic on your profile page.  The next will be the icon, or avatar, that appears next to your name when you post.  Other people use the avatar to “jump” to your profile.  You communicate by posting messages on the individual profiles or by posting to blogs. 

2)     The blogs are listed, 10 at a time, on the right hand corner of screen.  To post on either the profile or blog, scroll down to the comment box at the bottom of the page.

3)     To blog on a subject, click on your profile and a drop box comes down containing several things.  Click on blog, a new page will open; at the bottom is a tab, "add blog" click on it.  Fill out the headline, graphics and then there is a text box for your blog.  You can cut and paste things of interest.  Some people following blogging rules, some do not.  Is is nice to credit the article if you cut and paste it.  Remember to select a category.  Only one blog per screen id will appear on the marquee at one time.

4)     You can add pictures by clicking on profile (catching a drift here) and clicking on image galleries.  You have to fill out the first box then you can add pictures.  If you want to have several galleries just click "start a new gallery" You use the browse button to upload graphics.  Most pictures can be found in the file that is titled "my pictures".  Click on "open" then it should upload when you finish.  Graphics are always the scary part but just play around with it. Golo has a weekly pet photo contest that can be found by hitting the "Golo" button that will take you to Golo's home page.   Image galleries are fun ways to share pet photo etc.  

5)     The home page contains many interesting features from blogs and other information about Golo.  It is also the page where you can contact Angela, the Managing editor of Golo. http://www.wral.com/golo/ 

6)     Golo is like any place in cyber land or back at the reality ranch, there are people here who are very nice and who are not.  If comments bother you on your profile you may delete them.  If you feel they are against the terms of service of WRAL you may report them for abuse.  Both the delete and abuse bottom are in the person's comment box.  If someone hurts your feelings or offends you, use the [x] on the upper right corner of your browser to leave Golo and take a break.

7) Remember at all times, to keep your personal information PRIVATE.  If you used your work email address to create your Golo account, please be careful sharing that email address!

8) There have been Golo parties at coffee houses and other public events.  See item 7. 

9)     Advanced Blogging: To make a group, click on Profile, then select Groups. Click on Create a group.  As owner of a group, you can send out email invitations and group email.  There is a nice tutorial at: http://wral.com/golo/page/3012567/
