what do you remember about the 60's?

Published Jul. 29, 2008

OK let's see what us old pharts can come up with. 30 cent gas comes to mind. No internet, heck no computers. Bicycle helmets, what? Seat belts? Air bags? Microwaves? "THE FBI" in color!

Almost everything has been mentioned except Woodstock and sea monkeys...lol. Yes, I remember that gym suit; it's hard to believe I felt so naked in it. The girls and the guys had separate gym classes and all the guys would try to watch the girls taking class.

Immediately following the 60's, The Partridge Family started it's four-year run on TV. Remember Laurie partridge (Susan Dey)? Ohhhhhh...my FIRST celebrity love! LOL!!!! I had such a crush on her! I never missed watching that show. That's when my early manhood horomones were starting to take hold. LOL!!

Everything :)

OK...this thread is still going. Does anyone (girls) remember having the one piece gym suit that zipped up. Of course the brat in class would pull your zipper apart and have you running for the bathroom.

Wow...the sixties.....lost my Daddy in 1960(struck by lightning), moved to Georgia in 1961, fell in love with President Kennedy and his whole family (the Camelot years), cried for days after his assasination, became a Beatlemaniac when I first heard them (George was the bomb!), The Man from UNCLE (can anyone say Iilya?), Star Trek with Leonard Nimoy, high school, cheerleading, graduation (The Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding), my first "true love" who became (after a two time stint in Vietnam)my husband, writing letters every day and waiting forever for replys while he was there, mini skirts and go go boots...groovy man!

First two Super Bowls and the Ice Bowl (Packers), a very loooooonnnng year living in Korea (army brat), Simon and Garfunkel (Sounds of Silence - don't ask me why?), the Sassoon haircut, Twiggy, the moon landing...

22 years before my time:) he he he

What do I miss from the 60's? I miss the music. The lyrics were about the shifting mood of the times. I miss the the "sense" of freedom that I had at the time. No bills to pay....no "major" responsibilities.....just enjoying being a "flower child".

When Atlantic Beach was a small place...about the only thing there was the Pavilion, a Putt-Putt & a few hot dog stands. (and of course the fishing piers.)

PS. And Fort Macon was a run down dilapidated forgotten place in the sand.

almost nothing... I think I remember my crib, and maybe some Barbies. I was born in October of 67. ;)
