help! i can't quit low carbing!
Published Jul. 25, 2008So I did it! I got to my goal of 142 this morning from 163 in mid-April by low carbing. Woohoo!
Problem is, last time I took a break for my birthday, I put on 5 pounds in 5 days! Of course that was as much pizza, beer, and bailey's as I wanted for a couple days plus some carbs leading up to it. But it took weeks to get back on track.
My friend who convinced me how well low carbs works has lost 30 pounds before then put it back on. Any advice you can give to help me not be a yoyo dieter, I would appreciate.

That's why Weight Watchers was a Godsend to me as I got older and went through the inevitable metabolism change. I realized that my eating habits were out of balance and that I needed to actually chew my food rather than inhale it like a starving dog. Weight Watchers is good because it teaches a system of assigning nutritional value to foods that make it easy to keep up. Plus it is *not* an extreme diet. It's a way of knowing.

I think it is better to cut out HFCS because that stuff is really awful for you and has no nutrional value at all.

Really? Explain the French Paradox then -- they eat plenty of animal fats, and oils and have lower rates of heart disease and strokes than do Americans.
Further, the Japanese eat high amounts of fish -- clearly a meat -- and have lower rates of heart disease than do we.
One of the major differences of both cultures is that they eat less food because they eat slower. Americans often treat their lives as if it were a rat race and that eating is something that should be done quickly in order to get to the next thing. That does not allow the body to realize it is full and thus it is easy to over-eat.

Low carb diets-no white rice, potatoes, bread or sugar-do not work, forever or completely. Once you start eating higher carbs & other foods again, the weight comes back. So how can you all say it works? You're giving her permission to fail.
Veggies, veggies, veggies, some fruits, wholegrains, beans. Most of these can & must be low carb, I grant you, to keep you on a good path. But, eating mostly low carb & low cal veggies keeps you full & satisfied & you can graze on them constantly.
Does anyone know the history of heart disease & cancer in America? These devastating killers started & rates have soared to this day when Americans started adding animal fats to our diets. Cut out all animal fats & byproducts & all oils = reversal of heart disease & cancers in people. Amazingly simple. The answers are out there. Medical & pharma industries do NOT want you to know this.

Low carb limits choices and none of these new choices include the sugars and other simple carbs that composed over 75% of my previous diet. 75% might be an under-estimation!
