what it was was pizza
Published Jul. 24, 2008An older gentleman shared with me that while he was a student at UNC he and some friends were out at a restaurant in town and the waitress asked them if they would like to try what sounded like a piece of pie. He happily replied, “Sure, a piece a pie sounds good.” She returned and placed something on the table that widened some eyes and caused a few muttered gasps. He asked her, “Just what in the world is that?” She told him, “A Pizza pie.” He eyed it warily and passed on it. He said that at the time it looked to him like a giant biscuit someone had thrown up on. How times have changed!

Definitely! A true classic. I sort of hacked the title because it fit and the old guy who told me this story attended UNC around the same time as Andy Griffith did.
ShellBell,
"It's great to hear stories from older folks... they really have seen some changes."
They are living history books. My grandmother live to be 103 and the changes she saw in her lifetime were truly amazing. Someday I hope to share some of her stories.
