TAUNTON, Mass. - A 53-year-old wife and mother fatally shot herself shortly after faxing a letter to her mortgage company saying that by the time they foreclosed on her house that day, she would be dead.
Police said that Carlene Balderrama used her husband's high-powered rifle to kill herself Tuesday afternoon, shortly after faxing the letter at 2:30 p.m.The mortgage company called police, who found Balderrama's body at 3:30 p.m. The auction was scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and interested buyers arrived at the property in Taunton, about 35 miles south of Boston, while Balderrama's body was still inside, according to Taunton police chief Raymond O'Berg.
Police did not immediately release the name of the mortgage company. O'Berg said Balderrama's fax read, in part, "By the time you foreclose on my house I'll be dead."
O'Berg also said a suicide note found next to Balderrama told her husband, John, and 24-year-old son to "take the (life) insurance money and pay for the house."
"I had no clue," said John Balderrama explaining that his wife handled all the couple's finances. "I'm just lost. I tell you I'm beside myself."
He said Carlene had been intercepting letters from the mortgage company and shredding them without his knowledge. He had no idea she hadn't paid the mortgage in 42 months.
"She put in her suicide note that it got overwhelming for her," he told The Associated Press in a phone interview Wednesday. "Apparently she didn't have anyone to talk to. She didn't come to me. I don't know why."
John Balderrama filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy three times from 2004 to 2006, but the courts dismissed the petitions. Debtors who declare bankruptcy under Chapter 13 generally can keep their homes while paying off their debts under a court-approved reorganization plan.
Well my goodness!!! I don't know about most of you, but my life is not worth being taken over a foreclosed home. I'm sure this woman had more demons she was dealing with, but decided to that the foreclosed home being auction was the last straw. How do you think you would handle your home being foreclosed for whatever reason or losing your job?? Would you panic and become depressed? I know many of you probably don't know how you'd really react in that position, but think about it? What would you do or what have you done in the past if something like this has happened to you? I lost my job 7 yrs ago and I did not get depressed about it. I admit I was a bit worried, but I knew God would take care of me. And so He did!!! I took a HUGE pay cut, but I was sustained by spending my money wisely and my family stepped in and helped me A LOT!! To God be the glory. I have 3 very wealthy millionairies in my family and we joked with them one thanksgiving asking them what would they do if they lost all they had. One of my family members said he'd loose his mind. My grandfather politely and jokingly said, go ahead and loose your mind. I'd be working on plan B while you are trying to find your mind. LMBO!!!!

Life insurance does not pay out when the cause of death is suicide. Unless the whackos in Mass changed that because of Ted Kennedy.

I think you had a clue Mr. Balderrama. You filed Bankruptcy three times and the judge probably told you that you had better get a clue long before now.
This is the perfect example of the liberals way to make people stupid for a vote. Put them in a house, generate programs to keep them in the house, only getting by through eating hard boiled eggs.
