american red cross: a necessity in today's world
Published Jul. 24, 2008There are many charity groups that offer help to their community in times of need. In this day and time, these services at hand can play a life-supporting role for many victims when tragedy strikes unexpectedly. We are very fortunate to have such an important assest available to us.
Yesterday at work, the American Red Cross came and several of my co-workers, including myself, took their course in CPR/AED training. They had everything necessary to learn this valuable skill... work manuals, videos, dummies to practice on, and one heck of a great teacher. I learned a lot in those six hours we were in class. And having the manual to keep will certainly help us in making sure we perfect this new skill.
I strongly want to suggest to you that learning CPR can in fact save someone's life. It could be a co-worker's, a stranger in need, or even a family member that could benefit from your knowledge of knowing what to do in case of an emergency. There was numerous situations covered... from heart attacks to strokes to giving first aid. It is my plea that you ask your workplace to sign up for this course for their employees. The cost is modest, yet the possibilities of having something so valuable at hand are real...and you can't put a price tag on saving someone's life. And that's exactly what you will learn.
In today's world, there are many disasters lurking in possibility. We are faced with these suddenly and usually without warning. Heart attacks are the number one killers of American adults. It would be wise to be prepared.
The American Red Cross doesn't limit their aid to health emergencies either. They collect blood- the livelihood of life. They go to weather-related disasters, as they have in past, like hurricanes, tornados, and tidal waves. You'll even see them housing and feeding fire victims who are suddenly homeless. And you can bet that if we ever suffer another terrorist attack that they will be there with their help.
I hope that you will consider supporting this organization. In the world we live in today, we need them to be a strong tool readily available for when the need arises. And consider taking their CPR training... they are pros in teaching this life-saving skill. I highly recommend it to you. And your financial support will endure their ability to respond to the next tragedy that comes along. And that it will. Please support them in advance. It is hurricane season again, and they ARE doing their thing down in Texas as you read this. Let's support them.

But because of a medical issue, I can't donate anymore. But lordy, that doesn't keep them from calling my house to remind me it is time to donate again, even though I've told them I can't. I ask them, again... can I? They say no - you won't ever be able to, so I ask if they'd quit calling. Then they are calling again (just last night). Worse than telemarketers
