it's time to bring corporal punishment back to wake county schools!
Published Jul. 23, 2008Our school children have had it too good for too long, and a little spanking or slapping now and then is just what they need! I remember with great joy how one of my teachers would hit me with her pointer stick. After I graduated from high school, I would visit her frequently. She instilled respect in me, and I'm thankful for that.
What are your thoughts on this? Hit or don't hit?

We agree!!! A good beating never hurt any child. I'm living proof of that.

If Leonard Nimoy was such an authority on child-rearing why didn't he write under his own name rather than as his Star Trek character???
Children need to get beatings!

Yes Ma'am. And therein lies the poisoning of the minds of parents in our modern culture. Our modern culture tends to favor modern philosophies over time-honored and proven methods of doing things in families. The idea that that our children should not be "afraid of us" is utterly foolish. My children do not flinch when I raise my hand nor do they tip-toe around me BUT they know better than to disobey something that I have made very plain to them. They know that there are definite consequences for that.
We have a little saying at my house, "it pays to obey but when you disobey, it costs". There are rewards for obedient children and imminent punishment for disobedient ones.
There is a difference between reverent fear (as in "the fear of the Lord") and being "afraid" of someone (as in a bully).
