with the political spotlight being on the presidency...

Published Jul. 22, 2008

We tend to forget to research our local and state elections well enough to make an informed vote.  Our media is focused on the big 2, but the election that will affect most of us more immediately will be on our Gov. and Lt. Gov.  Do you know enough to make an informed choice? Do you even know who the candidates are?  Will the state continue to be run by the corrupt liberl left....or will the voters give the crooked religious right a turn?  Any thoughts? Who will you be voting for? Which office do you think affects us here in NC more, the pres or the gov?

Scarecrow Cow - go to Vote Smart.com and get a list:

http://votesmart.org/search.php?search=27610&x=16&y=9#candidates

They have links for each candidate or you can get the UNBIASED information on each candidate directly from their site.

McCrory gets my vote automatically after I read Perdue's energy plan for NC. It was the most wacked out rediculous thing and I'm convinced there is no way that she actually understands the impact of what she's planning to do. If she can't even understand that, then there's no way she's capabale of running this state.

Congressional: I'm flipping between Cole(Libritarian) and Dole

State Legislative I haven't really decided yet. I'm still working on that one.

Whatelseisnew, yeah the paper has bias but I can't seem to find any other resources like it. I've never been able to find such a comprehensive list of people running for every office online, so I just keep using the N&O.

Great blog oala and I hope it makes people think. I agree with whatelse is new, the govenor has more affect than the president at the state level. I have studied the candidates and I'm still not sure. There are some things I like and dislike about all of them. As with the presidency, I'll be voting for who I feel will do the least damage.

"The one I'm most impressed with is Munger. Not like he's got a bat's chance in hell of winning though."

He's not all bad, true. I don't like the vouchers thing or the completely eliminating eminent domain altogether thing, but a lot of what he had to say made sense.

I agree though. He has a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected.

Scarecrow Cow In that case, do not even buy the paper; just mark the Dem party line vote. Typically that is who they say are the best ones for the Job. But keep in mind, the N&O has not yet seen a tax that it thought was high enough.

I see lots of good points in both Perdue and McCrory and I've been having a very hard time choosing between them. This time I think I'll be one of those voters who's still undecided up until the day of the election. I love how before elections the N&O puts out a list of everyone running for every office and info about their positions on issues and and their plans. I'll probably use that to decide on many candidates.

The one I'm most impressed with is Munger. Not like he's got a bat's chance in hell of winning though.

Hard choice. Perdue I assume is corrupt off the bat, and McCrory is a world class tool (this I know for a fact.)

Really don't have much use for either of them.

I will vote for the person that pledges to shut down most of the state agencies. If that person agrees to let me pick the agencies, I will vote for that person twice. Governor has more affect than the president at the State level.
