the real me

Hey there to all In GOLO land. Wasn't a charter member of this forum, but I've really come to enjoy the give and take we have here. I've got high hopes it will continue to be a place where people can express themselves, meet others, and learn about the world around them and the people that otherwise they may have never had the opportunity to meet.
I'm a Native son of North Carolina, born in Sanford but between traveling as a blended family in my early years to also being stationed in several places during my three years in the Army, I feel like I can identify with many places and people. Was married for 23 years to a beautiful Montgomery County country girl that somewhere along the line decided we'd best be served by her moving on. We were blessed with two sons, Levi and Luke. It's the end to the "empty nest" syndrome with both boy's back home with Dad.
I love to 'read, rite & ride' my motorcycle (those are my personal Three R's) and just be myself. Never had any aspirations to be an astrounaut or president or anything like that. I just want to be a person that others feel good to be around, a person people know they can trust not to abuse their confidence. I'm a Christian and though I have strong beliefs about some things, what I believe and what You believe are two different things. I don't try to change anyone's views or ideas unless they enter into that arena with a desire for change. I don't debate solely for the "fun" of debate. It just isn't my bag.
Music of almost any kind is enjoyable and though I can't carry a tune in a bucket, I have been known to sing when alone on my motorcycle or down on the river while kayaking or canoeing. Hope each one here is enjoying their times on GOLO and I hope to meet most of you and may our days and times ahead be even better than the good times we've already had here!
