Run To Vote 2008 Team Brings Its Voter Registration Marathon to Two Chicago
Locations This Weekend

High school students on a nationwide tour pledge to run 1/4-mile for each
new person who registers to vote

CHICAGO, July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- While the presidential candidates are busy
running for office, two teachers and four students from Granville Central
High School in Stem, North Carolina are literally running across all 48
states in the continental U.S. to register people to vote in time for the
November election.

They call the team "Run To Vote 2008" and they are coming to two Chicago
locations this weekend to register new voters and to ask registered voters
to pledge that they will vote on Election Day. For each person who registers
to vote, the team will run one-fourth of a mile.

In Chicago, the Run To Vote 2008 team will be appearing:

    Saturday, July 19
    1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
    McCormick Freedom Museum
445 N. Michigan Ave. (Tribune Tower)

    Sunday, July 20
    2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    Universal Sole Running Store
    3052 N. Lincoln Ave.

"The right to vote is the most prized of our constitutional rights," says
teacher Jonathan Williams. "It is discouraging that only half of American
adults typically vote in national elections. We want to encourage and
inspire people to vote -- a right denied to many people around the world."

Across the country, the team has received pledges and help from public
officials, schools, churches and citizens who have been inspired by the
vision of these students and their teachers.

The team left Stem, NC on June 14 and will complete the nationwide trip
covering several thousand miles in early August.

The team's efforts at the Freedom Museum are in conjunction with the special
exhibit, "Vote4Me! Inside a Presidential Election," which is dedicated to
the understanding and preservation of First Amendment rights. Through
student media and expression, the Museum hopes to inspire other teen
visitors to value the role the First Amendment plays in protecting freedom
for future generations. The exhibit runs through Nov 9, 2008.

More information about the Run To Vote 2008 team's travels, along with
updates and a complete list of cities the team will visit, is posted on the
web site http://www.RunToVote.com

New Photos are up on their site as well. Enjoy! Thank You All for your continuous support! Without You we could not make this journey possible!

Great way to heighten awareness of all the priviledges granted by our Constitution that we take for granted.

We are a blessed people. It's time more of us realized that! Great work, guys!!!! :D

Thank You Eugene for your nice message. I am very proud of this Team!!! They are making North Carolina and America Proud!!!

Sounds like a good project. The more people who vote, the more representative our government will be.
