wral management reaches out with compassion to the community, mixing bad news with kindness

Published Jul. 18, 2008

Lately I have taken note that whether I am reading the news inside WRAL.com... or viewing it on Channel 5 or 50, that the reporters and anchors are showing genuine signs of compassion and care for those people whom have been affected by newsworthy trajedies. Most recent are the two little Cooper girls along with their family from Canada.  Sharing the good about this family, even the little things, like the recent trip together to (I think) Hilton Head Island, and how grateful the family was for those final memories of their loved one... it almost brings tears to my eyes. Also in that story are mentions of the individual personalities- each different and unique- of the two little girls. People... reporting this kind of information to us, I think in a sense, actually helps carry the heavy load that this family is faced with. Surely it soothing to their unbearable grief.  With newscast and reporting like this, I have to stand up and shout to you all that we are very fortunate to have a news station that really does care about their viewers and their community as WRAL does. Most newscast from other stations are not like that. They have no personality and it is usually strictly business of passing on the news for the day.

WRAL will always be the number one station in North Carolina if they continue the tend that they are currently on. And that's a fact.

WRAL has been awarded the top news station in the Carolinas. Their website is the best one can find too.

I have friends/ok, I feel like their mom...working for WRAL...soooo my intent is to be supportive of them now..as I have always been in the past. :)

I've always considered WRAL the best of the NC stations I'm familiar with. Things may change,it seems they always do, but WRAL has always risen above the competition in local coverage and the personality projected by it's employees.

My views towards this cannot be altered Stevesteve. I understand what you are saying and there may be some truth in it. But we as human beings, I cannot be convinced that there is no compassion in WRAL's employees. And allowing their employees to reveal their compassion a little says a lot about the management of this station. It is definately a big plus for the community and I hope that they continue their trend.

I really do not like eliminating someones opinion, but facts come first.

Made in USA: Good for you. His comment should be removed.

Stevesteve: I'm sorry you feel that way. I think you may have had a bad experience or maybe you were fired and now you need to "bad mouth" the crew at WRAL. You know Pam could get you for slander. I would!!!

Stevesteve I totally disagree with you, and I ask your forgiveness for removing your post from this blog. You are more than welcome to have your say in my profile where we can futher discuss this privately. But due to the sadness that the Cooper family is experiencing, and the fact that they just might stop by...I must delete your comment. I am sorry, but it's my blog and I mean no harm.

Ha! WRAL.com is the best way for me to stay abreast of news since I live in SC. I was born and raised in NC and still work here.

It is good. I have noticed in the Fayetteville Observer they are taking a more human interest side to reporting too. Hopefully its a trend starting.
